“The possibility of Iran’s involvement in this attack is being investigated,” David van Weel said in the Dutch parliament, adding that the suspected perpetrators were most likely recruited, although he did not specify whether there is a direct link between Iran and the synagogue attack, Reuters reports.

Dutch prosecutors announced on Monday that four men suspected of causing the explosion at the synagogue in Rotterdam carried out the attack with terrorist intent.

The attackers, aged between 17 and 19, were arrested shortly after a fire was set at the synagogue early Friday morning.

Last week, several attacks occurred in the Netherlands, including an attack on a Jewish school in Amsterdam. For all these attacks, in which no one was injured, responsibility was claimed by an unnamed extremist group, Reuters notes.
