According to the Greek newspaper Kathimerini, as well as numerous posts on social media, the pride of the U.S. Navy is forced to withdraw due to multiple issues faced by the crew—not only because of the fire that has not been fully controlled since March 12.

A withdrawal from the Middle Eastern waters, from where U.S. strikes on Iran were being directed, is expected in the coming days, most likely next week

Let us recall, as reported by the New York Times, a fire is still raging on the U.S. aircraft carrier, in the ship’s main mess hall, a fact confirmed by both sailors and military officials.

Due to the fire, more than 600 crew members were left without beds in their berthing areas, and two sailors received medical attention for minor injuries, while dozens suffered from smoke inhalation.

Ship in its 10th month of deployment

The ship, with 4,500 sailors and fighter pilots, is currently in its 10th month of deployment—the longest since the Vietnam War.

The carrier remains fully operational, but maintenance issues, including malfunctions of 650 toilets and a delayed maintenance schedule, point to the strain on the vessel.
