“Human error is practically ruled out. If the train driver makes a mistake, the system corrects it automatically. Let’s not speculate and wait for the investigation,” Heredia said on the show Las Mañanas on RNE.

“This is an accident under strange circumstances,” admitted the Renfe official, who believes that “it is very difficult to reach a conclusion in a short period of time.”

“We will have to wait for the analysis of the black boxes and the investigative commission”

The president of the General Council of Official Engineering Chambers, César Franco, on the show Las Mañanas on RNE, emphasized the “complexity” of the railway accident in Adamuz, noting that for now there are only “hypotheses” and “no official conclusions,” which will take time.

He spoke about several hypotheses that need to be analyzed, relating to the switches at the entrance to Adamuz, the automatic systems, and the human factor.

In other accidents, hypotheses are often “clearer,” but in this case, it involves “a straight section of track, at not very high speed, and a train that is relatively new.”

“We will have to wait for the analysis of the black boxes and the investigative commission,” he said.

Civil Guard sends DNA and fingerprint experts

Agents from the Civil Guard’s Central Crime Scene Investigation Team, specialized in DNA and fingerprint analysis, are already at the site of the serious two-train collision this week to speed up the identification of the deceased.

The death toll currently stands at 39.

According to the Civil Guard, the team includes experts who previously participated in the same operation during a recent storm.

The Civil Guard has currently deployed more than 220 personnel, including members of Public Safety, Traffic, and the Reserve and Security Group (GRS), among others, as well as a helicopter and several drones.
