Germany on alert; Explosions resound; There are dead and wounded

According to Bild, several explosions rang out in Munich early this morning. Allegedly, shots were also heard.

The German media outlet further stated that around 4:40 a.m., the fire department was notified that the apartment building was on fire, and soon after, emergency services received reports of loud gunshots.

Man's body found

Police found a man's body.

According to Bild, it is believed that this person planted explosives in his parents' house, which he then set on fire and then took his own life.

Allegedly, he was also carrying a backpack, and the police fear that there is a mine in it.

Bomb disposal experts are on the scene, and at the beginning of the operation, the police only approached the family home by helicopter.

In addition, at least one person was found with gunshot wounds near Lake Lerchenau.

Homicide squad on scene

Fire operations and a police investigation are currently underway, police said this morning. The homicide unit is also on the scene, Bild points out.

The incident took place in Lerhenauer Strasse, in northern Munich.

Police have cordoned off a large area and are advising residents and motorists to avoid the area or take a detour.

Nearby schools, an elementary and high school, are expected to remain closed until the investigation is complete, according to police.
