Horror in Australia: Two police officers killed on farm; Residents are advised not to leave their homes PHOTO
Two policemen were killed and a third was injured in a shooting at a rural property in Porepunkah, in the north-east of the Australian state of Victoria, local authorities said.
Ambulance and police vehicles are on the scene, the surrounding area is cordoned off, and residents are advised not to leave their homes.
"Reports confirm one officer has been injured and two others have died after police executed a warrant at a rural property," the Australian Federal Police Association (AFPA) said.
The police described the event as an "active and ongoing incident that may pose a significant risk to citizens," reports ABC.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan condemned the attack and expressed concern about the dangers to security forces.
