Trump: "Don't worry, there won't be a Third World War"
The planet is no longer moving toward a third world war, U.S. President Donald Trump said in an interview with journalist Mark Levin.
Speaking about the conflict in Ukraine, he noted that the situation had only worsened under the administration of former U.S. President Joseph Biden.
"I think everything was leading to a third world war, but now it’s not going to happen anymore. That’s good news. You don’t have to worry about that anymore," Trump said.
"We will see how the process of resolving the crisis unfolds. But everything was heading toward a third world war. It would have been the most terrible military conflict since World War II," he added.
After meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Trump said he wanted to evaluate the potential for dialogue between the parties without his direct involvement.
"I had a very successful meeting with President Putin. I had a very successful meeting with President Zelensky. And now I thought it would be better if they met without me. Let’s see, I want to see what happens," he explained.
Trump added that, if necessary, he would step in to help the two leaders reach the agreement.
"You know, the relations between them are very difficult, terrible. Now we will see how things develop, and if it becomes necessary, and it probably will, I will step in and help bring the matter to a conclusion," Trump emphasized.
