State of siege: Bundeswehr helicopter fell into the river, search underway PHOTO
In the German federal state of Saxony, there was an accident today when the helicopter of the Bundeswehr, the armed forces of Germany, fell into the river Mulde, near the town of Grimma.
According to information obtained by Bild from security sources, the Bundeswehr reported the disappearance of the helicopter, the pilot and, possibly, the crew members.
Parts of the wreckage of the helicopter are still in the river, rescuers from the fire and police forces are working intensively on the spot, and divers have also been called.
The police have already marked the area as a military restricted zone, preventing all present citizens from taking photographs of the helicopter crash site, German Bild points out.
According to the first information, some passers-by noticed parts of the helicopter in the river around 11:30 a.m. and immediately informed the police.
Also, a no-fly zone has been established in that area, which extends to two nautical miles (about 3.74 kilometers) from the accident site.
