Austrian investigators are slowly building a profile of the 21-year-old who killed 10 people and then himself at a school in Graz on Tuesday, officials said.

The suspect has been identified as 21-year-old Arthur A. and according to police he led a reclusive life, avoiding everyday activities and withdrawing into the "digital world", said the head of the criminal investigation office in the federal state of Styria, Michael Lohnegger, Reuters reported.

The attacker allegedly planned a bomb attack before the attack - the police found a non-functioning explosive device and blueprints in his home.

The investigation into the motive of the attack is still ongoing, but the investigators state that it was a person who did not finish school, and local media speculate that he felt abused during his school days and that the attack was an act of revenge.

However, the police did not confirm this information.

Neighbors in Kalsdorf near Graz, where Arthur A. lived with his mother, describe him as "inconspicuous, often with a cap and headphones", and none of the interviewees said they knew him personally.

Investigators were unable to find close friends or acquaintances who could provide additional information about him.

He doesn't even have a personal social media account.

The Austrian media reports that the suspect started practicing shooting at a local shooting club three months ago, but did not make social contacts.

Local officials point out that the topic of peer violence is complex and that more attention is needed in early recognition of signs.

Police will hold a press conference later today.

In the shooting that took place on Monday in a high school in Graz, 11 people were killed and more than 30 were wounded, two of whom are in critical condition, the Austrian public service ORF reported earlier, adding that the attacker, who was among the victims, had a pistol and a shotgun with him.
