The American company SAFE presented plans for the construction of a luxury fortress in Virginia, not far from Washington, USA, where a bunker worth 300 million will house 625 of the richest people in the world in case of a global disaster.

The underground bunker, which has been dubbed the Aerie, will offer clients a chance to survive if disaster strikes above ground - although each will have to shell out $20m to secure it.

Despite being in close proximity to the White House in Washington, directors of the new hideout insisted the building's location was merely a "coincidence" and had nothing to do with global tensions - and fears of a potential World War Three.

The fortress-bunker is just one of a string of similar hideouts built for the ultra-rich over the past few years, with Kim Kardashian, Mark Zuckerberg and Tom Cruise all admitting to building their own, or applying for a place in one of the posh security bunkers.

Clients willing to pay a large price will not only have access to the fortress if the world ends, but will be able to enter the pods whenever they feel their "security is threatened".

In addition to memory foam mattresses and marble floors, the Aerie will provide guests with an unparalleled suite of facilities, including "AI-powered" medical care, countless "wellness programs" and the perfect blend of "protection and luxury."

The hideaway will also feature upscale gourmet restaurants, an indoor pool, cold plunge centers, IV therapy rooms, a bowling alley, and a climbing wall.

The company behind the new construction is SAFE (Strategically Armored & Fortified Environments), a Virginia-based company specializing in the design of secure properties.

According to SAFE's director of medical preparedness, Naomi Corbi, the "bullet-proof residence" will emphasize both privacy and security.

She told Realtor.com that the club will offer its millionaire members the privacy to "run a business" while locked behind "impenetrable" walls.

It will also offer MediShield Disease Centers where clients can be treated for ailments and given life-saving treatments using AI-powered tools.

Describing the centers, SAFE wrote: "The company's team of highly specialized medical professionals will deliver the same standards as the White House medical teams directly to you."

Every bunker will be built underground except for the rooftop penthouse and members' club.

But celebrities and tycoons won't be short of views because thanks to 'interactive walls and ceilings' they'll be able to imagine they're anywhere.

Corbi told Realtor that a four-tier membership will be available when construction opens.

She said the lowest tier would be able to afford a "moderately successful CEO", while "asylum membership" would be available by invitation only to those worthy of the gold standard bunker. Company executives are still discussing who will be offered this accomodation.
