In three days, Greece was hit by as many as 550 earthquakes. Although Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis called on the residents of Santorini to remain calm, people are currently fleeing the island in panic.

Jasmina Pavlović Stamenić, a journalist and correspondent of "Politika" from Athens, told the Morning program of TV Prva that another dramatic night is behind Greece, given that the ground in Greece is not calming down.

"Last night around nine o'clock, an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.9 on the Richter scale was recorded again, and this morning the same 4.9," she stated and added that Greek seismologists are also in doubt because 37 earthquakes of such magnitude were registered in 24 hours.

"Over 6,000 people from Santorini, which normally has between 12,000 and 13,000 inhabitants, have already left the island. Yesterday there was a little more panic, because there were no ferries and planes. However, there was a quick reaction and the ferries are arriving at the port one after another and I have to tell you that they are mostly full," said Jasmina Pavlović Stamenić.

She also said that there were manipulations, attempts to resell tickets at higher prices, but the government reacted in time and all those who want to leave Santorini will be able to do so.

"Although the situation is worrisome, there is still no official call for evacuation," adds the "Politika" journalist.

According to her, meetings of the crisis headquarters are held continuously, where new decisions are made, and much, as she says, has already been done so that those who remain would not be surprised, so to speak.

"And surprises can be in the form of earthquakes of 6 degrees on the Richter scale, new landslides, tsunamis, and even the activation of volcanoes," she says.

She mentioned that everything that could be done has already been done on Santorini, all available rescue teams are on the ground.

"It is not impossible to declare a state of emergency, not only on Santorini, but also in the surrounding islands, because seismologists are also worried, since the ground is not calming down," Jasmina Pavlović Stamenić continues.

"The very thought that a volcano could be activated, and that a devastating earthquake could follow, is scary enough. There have never been such terrifying images in Santorini, hundreds and hundreds of people are standing behind the fence and waiting to be evacuated from Santorini," she said.
