Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokić limped off the court at halftime after injuring his left knee about three seconds before the end of the second quarter.
The injury occurred when Jokić’s teammate Spencer Jones accidentally kicked the lower part of the Serbian player’s leg, causing the left knee injury.
Jokić collapsed on the floor, clutching his knee and writhing in pain.
He was helped to his feet and then walked to the locker room on his own.
Doctors examined him, and the Nuggets were working on logistics to schedule an MRI, considering the team’s flight to Toronto on Tuesday, where they are set to face the Raptors on Wednesday.
Jokić did not return to the court in the second half and will undergo an MRI on Wednesday.
Jokic dominated until the injury
The Nuggets have had serious injury problems this season, and they played this game without three players who would normally be starters: Christian Braun (sprained left ankle), Aaron Gordon (strained right hamstring), and Cameron Johnson (managing a right knee injury).
Denver lost the matchup in Miami 147–123, marking their 10th loss of the season.
Jokić dominated up to the moment of his injury with 21 points, eight assists, and five rebounds.
He remained the Nuggets’ most efficient player until the end of the game!
