Serbia officially ended tenth in the Eurobasket 2025
Serbian basketball players officially took the tenth position at this year's European Championship.
The "Eagles" arrived at the tournament as absolute favorites for the gold, but as in the previous EuroBasket, they were again eliminated in the round of 16 of the competition.
Apart from against outsiders in the group stage, the team selected by coach Svetislav Pešić did not act as a cohesive team, and the injury of captain Bogdan Bogdanović significantly contributed to the disaster.
The only player who lived up to expectations was Nikola Jokic with an average of 22.3 points with 9 rebounds and 4.2 assists per match.
In the end, Serbia was stopped at the start of the knockout phase by the selection of Finland, a country where basketball has been systematically developing only in the last few years.
Of the teams that were also eliminated in the round of 16, France was in front of Serbia due to a better goal difference, and behind them were the selections of Italy, hosts Latvia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Israel, Portugal and Sweden.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, the quarter-final matches of the tournament are scheduled.
