Veselin Milić's trial set to begin on November 9

Milić is charged with two criminal offenses — failure to report a criminal offense and its perpetrator, as well as falsifying an official document, in connection with the killing of Aleksandar Nešović, known as Baja, at the “27” restaurant in the Senjak neighborhood.

The indictment against Milić was filed by the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade, after which the Higher Court in Belgrade declared itself lacking jurisdiction and forwarded the case file to the First Basic Court in Belgrade for further proceedings.

The First Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade agreed to take over the prosecution of the case. According to the allegations, the owner of the “27” restaurant, defendant Nenad L., contacted Milić via WhatsApp after 11 p.m. on May 12. He allegedly called him as a police officer whom he personally knew and trusted to report that A.N. had been killed inside his restaurant. Milić allegedly failed to report the killing to anyone.

He is also suspected of having entered false information into an official document — an official report issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Police Directorate, Belgrade Police Department — on May 13, in the official premises of the Office of the Head of the Belgrade Police Department. It is also alleged that he omitted certain important information.

He allegedly falsely stated that on May 12, 2026, he had coincidentally met defendant Saša V. at the “27” restaurant, even though he had personally called him beforehand and asked him to come to the restaurant.

He also allegedly entered false information stating that A.N. had appeared at the restaurant that same evening, approached his table, demonstratively turned his head away, and then left, even though A.N. had a brief verbal altercation with him and Saša V.

In addition, he is suspected of omitting important information, including that he was a family friend of defendant Saša V.; that he knew there had been a conflict between Saša V. and A.N., which had caused Saša V. to fear for his safety; that he had personally invited Saša V. to the “27” restaurant; and that, through an intermediary, he had invited A.N. to the restaurant in an attempt to reconcile the two men.

He also allegedly failed to include in the official report that, on the evening of May 12, after he had left the restaurant, the restaurant owner, Nenad L., called him to say that he had a serious problem and that A.N. had been killed inside his restaurant. According to the allegations, this information could have affected the police’s ability to respond in a timely manner.
