Ibar Highway crash: Two motorcycles collide head-on, two people killed
Two motorcyclists were killed yesterday at around 5 p.m. in a head-on collision between two motorcycles on the Ibar Highway, in the village of Dići near Ljig.
According to information obtained by Kurir, one of the motorcyclists who died was from Belgrade, while the other was from Užice. A woman who was a passenger on the motorcycle ridden by the Belgrade man was also injured in the crash.
“On the Ibar Highway, in the area of Dići, there was a head-on collision between two motorcycles. One had Belgrade license plates and was ridden by I. T. (47) from Belgrade, while K. T. (33), also from Belgrade, was riding as a passenger. The other motorcycle had license plates from Bajina Bašta and was ridden by A. V. (31) from Užice. Both riders died at the scene, while the injured woman, who sustained serious injuries, was initially taken to the emergency department of the hospital in Valjevo,” a source said, adding that after receiving treatment in Valjevo, K. T. was transferred to the Emergency Center in Belgrade due to the severity of her injuries.
“She is not currently in life-threatening condition,” the source added.
Police conducted an investigation at the scene, and the circumstances of the tragedy are being determined. The Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office in Mionica was also notified.
The Ministry of Interior’s Traffic Police Directorate has warned that yesterday, within a span of just three hours, four motorcycle riders were killed in traffic accidents. It appealed to all road users, particularly motorcycle riders, to consistently comply with traffic regulations and help protect their own lives and the lives of others through responsible behavior.
