Kraljevo to declare a Day of Mourning over death of five-year-old girl

The decision to declare a day of mourning is a sign of respect for the girl, who died from severe injuries sustained in a traffic accident that occurred on Monday evening on Četvrtog kraljevačkog bataljona Street, as well as an expression of sympathy for her family, the City of Kraljevo said on its website.

The city extended its deepest and most sincere condolences to the family of the deceased girl.

A serious traffic accident occurred in Kraljevo on Monday evening when a car struck pedestrians, resulting in the death of the five-year-old girl from her injuries.

Police arrested J. A., 26, from Kraljevo, on suspicion of hitting pedestrians while driving without a valid driver’s license.

He is suspected of driving a Seat at around 7 p.m. on Monday on 4. Kraljevački Bataljon Street when, while overtaking, he collided with a Volkswagen traveling in the opposite direction. He then veered onto a pedestrian and bicycle path, where he hit a tree and subsequently struck pedestrians.

The five-year-old girl suffered life-threatening injuries, while her 32-year-old mother and one-year-old sister, who was in a stroller, also sustained serious injuries.

Her 35-year-old father suffered minor injuries, as did a 33-year-old female passenger in the Seat.

A check showed that the suspect did not have a driver’s license.

The suspect has been detained for up to 48 hours and will be brought before the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Kraljevo along with a criminal complaint.
