Between the Vrbas interchange and the Sirig interchange on the Subotica–Novi Sad highway, a truck overturned this morning, causing traffic toward Novi Sad to be suspended.

Police are redirecting traffic, and a multi-hour traffic suspension is expected. For now, it is not known whether anyone was injured.

The serious traffic accident occurred early this morning on the highway between Vrbas and Srbobran, when a semi-trailer truck overturned and completely blocked the roadway in the direction of Novi Sad.

“There has been a traffic collapse on this section, with kilometer-long lines of vehicles forming. However, traffic has now slowly started moving again, although the congestion is still enormous,” one of the drivers told RINA.

According to photos posted on social media, the truck, after overturning, broke through the guardrail and blocked almost all lanes of the highway, making traffic on this section seriously difficult.

In the direction of Novi Sad, long lines of trucks and passenger vehicles are forming, while the passing lane toward Subotica is closed due to damage to the roadside barrier.

Police and relevant services are on the scene, working to remove the vehicle and restore normal traffic flow. Drivers traveling along this section are advised to exercise additional patience and, where possible, use alternative routes.
