"After diagnostic tests, two children were admitted to the intensive care unit. One child has a cervical spine injury and is being transported to Belgrade," the Children’s Hospital stated.

They also reported that another child underwent wound treatment under general anesthesia and is in good general condition. "The remaining five children are in the ward. They were admitted for observation, are in good condition, and are not in vital danger," Children’s Hospital spokesperson Dr. Andrea Djuretić told Tanjug.

On the Belgrade–Novi Sad highway at around 3:30 a.m. this morning, a traffic accident occurred in which one child was killed when a van transporting children ran off the road, broke through the guardrail, and fell into a ditch.

According to information so far, as reported by the Ministry of the Interior, for reasons yet to be determined, an ‘Opel Vivaro’ van with Belgrade license plates, driven by S.S. (born 1982), overturned.

The vehicle was carrying eight underage passengers aged 13 to 16, who are members of the “Partizan” judo club from Belgrade and were returning from an international sports camp and competition in Azerbaijan.

A breathalyzer test confirmed that the van’s driver was not under the influence of alcohol. The driver, S. S. (born 1982), was admitted early this morning to the Emergency Center of the University Clinical Center of Vojvodina with multiple traumatic injuries and is under observation, the Clinical Center of Vojvodina told Tanjug.
