Massacre in Croatia: Sirens resound, several dead and wounded; "He started shooting at people"

As "Jutranji list" unofficially learns, a man entered the Home for the Elderly and Infirm and started shooting at people.

Five people died on the spot, and some are still receiving medical assistance.

The killer ran away after that, but the police soon caught him near the Daruvarac cafe.

The sirens of all possible emergency services are ringing through the city of Daruvar.

According to the media, the attacker entered the Home with a gun, killed his own mother, residents, and Home staff members.

New details of the crime

An employee of a store in Daruvar told Dnevnik.hr how two employees of the Home for the Elderly rushed into his store, one with an eye injury and the other with a bullet in the chest.

They told him that a man came to the Home and fired a gun at the residents and staff members.

The store worker immediately called the ambulance and the police, because the injured man recognized the killer and saw him entering a nearby cafe.

"I also called the police and told them where the killer was. He allegedly sat down and ordered a drink, and put the gun on the table," a store employee told Dnevnik.hr.

He says about the killer that he is in his fifties, that he was well-known in the area, but didn't know the motive because of which he committed this crime.
