A man doused himself in gasoline and set himself on fire in front of the Government building
Around 9:40 a.m. in front of the fence on the south side of Marko Square in Zagreb, an unknown person poured gasoline on himself and set himself on fire.
According to unofficial information, the man set himself on fire and suffered serious injuries.
He is in the Traumatology Clinic and is in serious condition and his life is threatened.
"The man is in serious condition and his life is threatened. He was transported to the burn treatment center at the Traumatology Hospital," Croatian Health Minister Vili Beroš told Dnevnik.hr.
Witnesses told Jutarnji list that they saw a man in a visibly distraught state dousing himself with some liquid in the immediate vicinity of the government building.
Security was informed about this very quickly, but the man was already caught in the fire.
The Zagreb police confirmed that they received a report about this at 9:37 a.m.
Croatian media reports that the Prime Minister of Croatia, Andrej Plenković, arrived at the event.
