“A man linked to this incident has been taken to official premises, and all circumstances are still being determined,” the Zagreb Police Department told Index.
Pupovac: “Terrifying, but it does not surprise me”
Milorad Pupovac, president of the SDSS, commenting on the desecration of the Orthodox church, told Zagreb media that both the news itself and the act are terrifying.
“We know nothing about the perpetrator, so we cannot comment. But I am not surprised, after certain right-wing media outlets have organized campaigns against the Serbian Orthodox Church, its believers and clergy, portraying it as a source of all evil, that people under different influences resort to such acts of violence, vandalism, and something that undermines the advanced level of religious freedoms in Croatia and among Orthodox believers,” Pupovac said.
