Conference of Speakers of Parliaments of EU candidate countries to be held today
The Conference of Speakers of Parliaments of EU candidate countries will be held in Belgrade today and tomorrow, bringing together senior parliamentary officials from candidate states. Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić will also address the participants.
A panel discussion of the speakers of parliaments of EU candidate countries will also be held on the topic: "European Integration in New Geopolitical Circumstances: The Role of Candidate Countries' Parliaments in Strengthening European Cooperation and Advancing the EU Accession Process," the Serbian Parliament announced.
According to the statement, the Belgrade Conference, a joint initiative of the National Assembly of Serbia and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, represents an excellent opportunity for candidate countries to exchange experiences on their respective European paths, as well as a chance for joint and coordinated action on the road toward membership.
The conference will also address the role of national parliaments in European integration along with various models for strengthening interparliamentary cooperation among candidate countries.
