Vučić in Brussels today at dinner with von der Leyen: "I'll propose to EU to admit the entire Western Balkans"
The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, will be in Brussels today to attend a working dinner hosted by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President António Costa.
Vučić stated yesterday that at the meeting with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, he will propose the idea that all candidates from the Western Balkans be admitted to the EU together as full members.
“If you admit one, or two, or three of us, what will happen with the rest? How will we deal with that? How will we resolve all the outstanding issues?” Vučić said at the panel titled “European Competitiveness in a Fragmented Geopolitical Environment,” held at the BELTALKS Forum organized by GLOBSEC.
He added that this concerns the future of the region, as well as the future of Europe.
“If anyone wants to understand geopolitics, this is the only thing the EU can do: admit all of us together, without borders between us. Serbs will feel better, Bosniaks will feel better, Albanians will feel better, Croats will be fine, I hope. And I see only positive outcomes as the common denominator of this idea. This was my idea, and I will openly share it tomorrow with António Costa and Ursula von der Leyen,” Vučić said.
