Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán visited Subotica today
The ceremony began with the playing of the Serbian and Hungarian national anthems at the City Hall in Subotica, where the “István Pastor” Foundation will present awards to Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.
Vučić earlier shared on his Instagram a photo of his visit to István Pastor’s grave, showing that he was accompanied there by Bálint Pastor, István Pastor’s son and the current president of the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians (SVM).
“With Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, I paid tribute to István Pastor, a man whose work forever marked a new chapter in Serbian-Hungarian relations. István was a bridge of trust, understanding, and sincere cooperation, and through his dedication, he brought our communities closer than ever. His legacy endures, reflected in the relations between our countries, in the unity of our peoples, and in the respect he earned through his deeds,” Vučić wrote on Instagram.

A large number of citizens gathered in Subotica to welcome them.
The "István Pastor" Foundation stated in its citation that Vučić is receiving the award for his key role in building trust, cooperation, and strategic partnership between the two peoples. His name is also associated with the historic decision made during his tenure as Prime Minister on October 30, 2014, which removed the principle of collective guilt of the Hungarian people from the legal system.
