Vučić with the people on the streets of Belgrade: "Serbia has stood up! We won't give our country to anyone"
At 5:30 p.m., President Aleksandar Vučić welcomed the longest flag transferred from the government to the parliament in front of the Presidency at Pioneer Park, where the national gathering started, with citizens pointing out that they'll never give up Serbia.
The flag, which is 200 meters long, will be only one of 170 that will participate in the parade of flags today.
"The atmosphere is nice, people are cheerful, joyful, tomorrow is the main event, this is just a small welcome. It is important for us that we have something to offer tomorrow, which is a normal, decent Serbia. I am grateful to all the people who stood up and who wanted to fight for such a Serbia, and I believe that there is nothing more important. We do not hate anyone, we do not wish harm to anyone. We want the life of Serbia, we are fighting for it and we will succeed. It seems that tomorrow there will be more than a few hundred as far as I think. Serbia has stood up, resistance to those who want to destroy Serbia is growing and we will win," said Vučić.
"There is no better message than that - not to give Serbia away," said Vučić.
He told the journalists that they can harass citizens and prevent them from moving, but that when, as he said, a Serb stands up and feels that his country is being destroyed, then everyone is on high alert.
"And then no one can stop it," Vučić pointed out and added that he was very happy about the number of people who gathered in front of the Serbian Parliament and expressed the expectation that there would be even more tomorrow.
"Here in Belgrade, Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija will feel exactly the way they should in the capital of their country, because Belgrade will always be the capital of all Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija. All in all, people are happy, sightseeing, learning about their homeland. They have only one message - Kosovo is Serbia," Vučić pointed out.
We are living in difficult times, it is not easy after 2008 to preserve the story of Kosovo as a part of Serbia, but we are doing it and we will continue to do it. They know how hard it is. Tomorrow you will see the largest column of Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija who are going to protect their country. There have never been so many of them. They feel that their country is under attack, both from the outside and from the inside. Enough of retreating and hiding from the worst. We will always offer a hand to talk, but to overthrow the state, your chance has passed. We will not give the state and our homeland to anyone. We will have a lot to say tomorrow," said Vučić.
