Details of arrests in Vojvodina: Five suspected of being part of a million-dollar fraud

In the continuation of the anti-corruption action, members of the UKP arrested 5 more people on the order of the Special Department of the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade, on the territory of Vojvodina.

On the order of the Special Anti-Corruption Department of the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade, members of the UKP, in cooperation with the Tax Police, arrested five more suspects from the investigation that was launched last week against the owner of the agricultural farm "Dragan Tikić" from Vršac, Dragan T. as the organizer of a group that damaged the budget of the RS for more than 218 million with various tax crimes, and then concealed the illegal origin of the money thus obtained.

B.I., D.I., S.R., S.K.K. and D.S. were arrested.

They are suspected to be the fictitious owners of some of the 66 agricultural holdings that are outside the VAT system and were actually managed by Dragan T. or members of his household.

We would like to remind you that the investigation in this case was initiated due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that Dragan T. from January 1, 2020 to September 30, 2024 devised a plan to commit criminal acts by selling his own agricultural products - wheat, corn, oilseed rape, mercantile soybeans and sunflowers - with the consent of the other suspects, owners of small farms that are not liable for VAT, thus reducing the tax liability, at the same time realized the right to a VAT refund, and reduced the tax liability of paying tax on income from self-employment.

On the order of Dragan T., holders of agricultural holdings issued purchase certificates with untrue content, representing their holdings as sellers and agricultural products as their own, although all the goods were taken from Dragan T.'s warehouses.

Živanka V., employed by Dragan T, helped them in this, who signed every delivery note, knowing that she was signing delivery notes with false content and thus helping Dragan T. in the tax crime.

Let's recall that the large-scale arrest operation in the fight against corruption and abuse of office began 10 days ago, and during that time more than 80 people were arrested.

During yesterday, let's recall, the former mayor of Niš, Dragana Sotirovski, was also arrested.
