Chief Public Prosecutor Stefanović: 15 people arrested; Just the beginning of a major anti-corruption campaign
The chief public prosecutor of the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade, Nenad Stefanović, addressed the public regarding the arrest as part of the state's major fight against corruption, which was announced earlier.
"15 suspects were arrested, including the current president of the municipality of Obrenovac and the former acting director of EPS, an investigation will be conducted against these persons due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that they abused their official position and authority in connection with public procurement for the public company EPS and damaged that public company for more than one million euros, for which amount they obtained illegal property benefits," said Stefanović.
"This is just the beginning of a major action in the fight against corruption. Let's expect it to continue in the coming days, about which the citizens of Serbia will be informed," said Stefanović.
