Major arrests in Serbia: 18 people detained
By order of Public Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime, in cooperation with Ministry of Interior’s SBPOK, 18 individuals were arrested across Serbia on suspicion of having, from December 2024 until now, forged and produced more than 300 different documents
According to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the criminal group is suspected of producing certificates, diplomas from various secondary, higher, and university-level institutions, exam certificates, confirmations of completed professional practice, and state exam certificates, both in Serbian and foreign languages, some of which were apostilled. Through these actions, the organized criminal group is believed to have obtained illicit financial gain totaling over €132,000.
Those detained are: S.S., B.G., D.M., D.P., S.J., G.B., B.S., Lj.O., M.Ž., R.Ž., L.T., S.S., D.V., Z.L., M.M., D.D., B.V., and B.K.
There is sufficient suspicion that this organized criminal group, during the specified period, committed the following crimes: criminal association for committing a criminal offense, forgery of documents in an extended duration, all in connection with the crime of abuse of official position in an extended duration, according to the statement from the Public Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime.
Raids at multiple locations are ongoing.
"This 18-member organized criminal group will be brought before the Public Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime, after which they will be questioned," the statement adds.
