Shooting in Novi Sad
A shooting took place in Novi Sad this morning just before eight o'clock.
One person was reportedly injured.
According to the Blic portal, an unknown assailant opened fire on the victim who was inside the restaurant.
An emergency team immediately arrived at the scene, and as Dr. Zoran Krulj, spokesman for the Institute for Emergency Medical Assistance of Novi Sad, confirmed to the media, the intervention was carried out according to an urgent procedure.
"The team intervened according to the first priority. After the initial treatment, the patient was immediately transported to the Emergency Center, where he underwent resuscitation. He is currently hemodynamically stable and conscious," said Dr Krulj.
The police conducted an investigation at the scene of the incident, and the investigation into the attacker and the motives for the shooting is ongoing.
Shooting suspect arrested
The Higher Public Prosecution in Novi Sad announced that D.L. (31) from Herceg Novi, who is suspected of having tried to kill D.S. with several shots from a pistol today (31) in a restaurant in Futoška Street, was arrested and detained for up to 48 hours.
He was arrested in cooperation with the Novi Sad Police Department and is accused of having committed the criminal offense of aggravated attempted murder, with grounds for suspicion that he also committed the criminal offense of illegal production, possession, carrying and trafficking of weapons and explosive substances.
It is added that the public prosecutor on duty conducted an investigation, with an order to remove all material evidence and traces from the scene for further expert examination and analysis.
"The suspect D.L. will be brought before the High Public Prosecutor's Office in Novi Sad within the legal term and questioned about the circumstances of the criminal offenses charged against him, after which the prosecution, in accordance with the law, will take all the necessary evidentiary actions during the investigation, with the aim of making a correct and legal public prosecutor's decision, about which the public will be informed in a timely manner," the statement said.
