Important deadline: Applications for 6,000-Dinar Assistance open until September 21 — Who needs to apply
Citizens of Serbia who are eligible for the one-time government assistance of 6,000 dinars have just a few more days to submit their applications, with the deadline set for September 21, 2026.
Applications are submitted electronically through the Treasury Administration portal at idp.trezor.gov.rs, while payments will begin on September 22.
Those who do not submit their application by September 21 and are not among the citizens who will receive the money automatically may miss out on this assistance. For this reason, it is important for citizens to check whether they are required to apply and to prepare the necessary information in advance.
The high level of public interest shows how important this assistance is. On the very first day of applications, the number of requests exceeded 800,000, with citizens most commonly checking whether they need to apply and how long they have to do so.
Who is eligible for the 6,000 dinars?
Adult citizens who meet the prescribed conditions are eligible for the payment.
To be eligible, you must:
- be an adult,
- be a citizen of the Republic of Serbia,
- have permanent residence in the Republic of Serbia,
- have a valid national ID card.
As Finance Minister Siniša Mali explained when announcing the assistance, citizens should check whether they are registered with the Shareholders’ Fund.
“If you are registered, you do not need to apply for the government assistance. If you are not registered with the Shareholders’ Fund, then you need to apply,” Mali previously emphasized.
Who does not need to apply?
It is important to note that not all citizens need to go through the application process. For certain groups, no application is required because the money will be paid automatically.
Pensioners and recipients of financial social assistance will receive the payment automatically and do not need to apply through the Treasury Administration portal.
The same applies to holders of rights to free shares and cash compensation from the Shareholders’ Fund. The money will be paid into the account already registered for receiving funds related to the free shares.
For all other eligible citizens who are not covered by the automatic payment, an application is required.
How do you apply?
Applications are submitted electronically through the Treasury Administration portal. Citizens should make sure to enter their information only on the official government website and should not provide personal data on pages that merely resemble the Treasury Administration portal.
Since the application is submitted electronically, citizens should make sure before the deadline that they have a valid national ID card and meet the requirements concerning citizenship, residence and age.
What is the application deadline?
The deadline for applications is September 21, 2026. Citizens who are required to apply should do so no later than that date to avoid losing the opportunity to receive the assistance.
Particular attention should be paid to the deadline, as citizens who fail to apply by September 21 and are not covered by the automatic payment may miss out on the assistance.
When do payments begin?
Payments of 6,000 dinars to eligible adult citizens are scheduled to begin on September 22 and will continue through September 25. The payments will be made by Postal Savings Bank.
Pensioners, recipients of financial social assistance, as well as holders of rights to free shares and cash compensation from the Shareholders’ Fund do not need to apply separately; the money will be paid to them automatically.
How much money has been allocated for the assistance?
As a reminder, the Serbian government adopted a draft supplementary budget under which 71 billion dinars will be distributed as assistance to pensioners, recipients of various forms of social assistance and allowances, as well as all adult citizens.
The largest portion of the 6,000-dinar payments will come from the Shareholders’ Fund, while an additional approximately 18 billion dinars will have to be provided from the state budget.
Therefore, citizens who meet the requirements but are not among those who will receive the money automatically should keep the key date in mind: September 21, 2026, is the final deadline for applications.
