Parts for the new bridge over the Sava have arrived; Mali: We will see the outlines of Belgrade's new landmark
Seven barges carrying the steel structure for the new bridge over the Sava have arrived in Belgrade, and the unloading of the first parts at the construction site near Branko’s Bridge has already begun.
The barges departed three months ago from Jiangsu Province in China, from the CSCEC factory where the new bridge is being built. This shipment delivered more than 50 percent of the steel structure for the bridge, which will have a total weight of 6,500 tons.
“Soon we will all be able to see the outlines of this new symbol of Belgrade. The main span of the bridge will be 166 meters, and the total length is 420 meters,” Finance Minister Siniša Mali wrote on his Instagram profile.
The new bridge will be supported by a total of six pillars — two in the water and two on each bank — with a total width of 38 meters. It will be designed for pedestrians and cyclists, with access roads on both sides.
“By the end of next year, Belgrade will have a new bridge. We await it with pride and anticipation. Serbia is being built!” the minister concluded.
