Polling stations in the second round of the Serbian presidential election closed across the country at 20:00 CET on Sunday. Polls close in second round of presidential election The Center for Free Elections and Democracy announced that 41.5 percent of voters had cast their ballots by 19:00 CET, and estimated that the turnout would not be higher than 46 percent. Earlier in the day, CeSID Program Director Marko Blagojevic underscored that the 33 percent turnout at 17:00 CET was by two percent higher than in the second round of elections in 2004. The turnout is lower but the decline tendency has stopped, Blagojevic stated and added that the turnout has stabilized, albeit at a relatively lower level. He noted that in the northern province of Vojvodina still holds the lead with the turnout at 34.5 percent, followed by central Serbia with 32.5 percent and Belgrade with 32.2 percent which is below the average. During a news conference in Tanjug's press center, Blagojevic pointed out that the data of CeSID observers show no incidents occurred at polling stations in the previous three hours. "It is positive that we have no irregularities to report on since elections are following a better course than was the case two weeks ago," Blagojevic stated and added that elections were peaceful until 5 p.m. and no serious irregularities were recorded. He expressed hope that this tendency would persist in the next three hours until the closing of polling places. The Center for Free Elections and Democracy announced that 41.5 percent of voters had cast their ballots by 19:00 CET, and estimated that the turnout would not be higher than 46 percent.
