A 38-year-old man was taken to safety by firefighters after he "fell asleep" on one of the iron arches of the Old Railway Bridge over the Sava in Belgrade.

BELGRADE A 38-year-old man was taken to safety by firefighters after he "fell asleep" on one of the iron arches of the Old Railway Bridge over the Sava in Belgrade. The incident happened on Sunday afternoon. The man, identified as Ivan T., is believed to have been under the influence of alcohol when he climbed the bridge. Firefighters rescue man "asleep on bridge" However, there has been no official statement regarding the exact circumstances of the incident. MUP's Belgrade Firefighting-Rescue Unit said that they despatched two trucks and nine firefighters to the scene after receiving the report, and that the man was "conscious and without injuries" when they brought him down. The police then took over and removed the man from the scene.
