Waste of money. This kind of money would be better spent on surface to air missiles which would be far more effective and cheaper to maintain then these out dated aircraft.

Why are we still arming ourselves? I thought we were supposed to be neutral.

And do you have money for kerosene, spare parts, armaments, pilot and service staff salaries (comparable to civil aviation at e.g. Air Serbia or Wizz Air €10000/month for pilots)? Not entirely true, the Croatian government signed a deal with Ukraine to refurbish 21 MIG's. Either way, its a waste of money as both economies cannot support a modern air force and does not alter the balance of power in the Balkans.

Not really:
1) S-400 costs 500 million dollars per unit. Not something Serbia can afford.
2) It is not something Russia can afford to give away lightly either (at a cheaper price maybe?) given that it is one of its main defense systems and not a lot of trust can be put into Serbia not to go to the West in the future and have those systems reverse engineered by NATO.
3) Missile systems have value only as a defense. Serbia is not interested purely in defense. Sure its government can say whatever they want about wanting peace but buying airplanes implies the possibility of using them for attacking too in the future. Given the range of those planes guess which countries Serbia is thinking of?

Now pay very close attention. Depleted uranium was used in Serbia proper and one place was Pancevo, but the west paid to have it all cleaned up and it has been cleaned up.
The Serbs that suffer from cancers are due to excessive cigarette smoking and a poor diet not depleted uranium. In southern Kosovo there is a leukaemia epidemic directly linked to depleted uranium. In Kosovo it was never cleaned up. The west does not care.

Now if I posted my comment on an Albanian website then that would be a different matter so I don’t give a figs whether you believe it or not, but most educated people know that depleted uranium is not very good for your health just ask Iraq who have the highest rates of cancer due to this healthy and beneficial commodity.
Leukemia is the American spelling for this disease. I’m not American.
