"Syrian civil war is over; U.S. should reach out to Russia"

NATO's regime change machine (that Galbraith once was part of) ran into a brick wall in Syria. After their 'success' in Yugoslavia they thought they could replicate it everywhere. After initial success in Iraq, that situation completely backfired on them with a now installed Shia regime there and the rise of ISIS (because they did not include former Hoessein party people in the new regime). Afghanistan is a mess, Iraq more or less in the Shia camp, Libya a catastrophy, Egypt now siding with Syria, etc. Hundreds of thousands are dead, millions displaced, Europe flooded with migrants and ISIS terrorists, the West hated more than ever.
It is only a success for merchants of death, not for anybody else.

According to former U.S. Ambassador to Croatia Peter Galbraith, the civil war in Syria is "over" - and it is now time "to stop the fighting."

Civil war is defined as a war between citizens of the same country and such a definition doesn't apply to Syria since the majority of those so called rebels were Turks,Chechnyans,Bosnians,Albanians,Arabs etc. who came to displace Syrians in Aleppo and are now running for the Turkish border with their tails between their legs.Assad with help from Russia and Iran is back and doing a good job in Syria. The US needs to understand it cannot decide who rules what in this world. The US will soon find out Yemen is too hard to conquer and need to prepare themselves for yet another failure which may in turn prepare the next war that will engulf Saudi Arabia.

Looks like the former YU is high on Putin's agenda but getting lower elsewhere so it will be interesting to see what happens in the coming years. Also interesting to note that Melania Trump, the soon to be first lady, has listed Serbian as one of the many languages she knows. Not Serbo-Croatian or Croatian, but Serbian.

I seriously doubt that the US will give up now. It will fight to the last man, not theirs of course, becasue the loss will be great and far reaching. Yes the US has lost and lost in a big way. The fall of Aleppo now means that there will be no pipeline from the Middle East to the Mediterranean. You have to understand that this pipeline has been in the planning by the US since the 1950s.
It means that Russia is the dominant partner of a group that can control the flow of oil in the Middle East and with Russia providing oil and gas to Europe their current grip will get even tighter on the EU and there is nothing the US can do about it.
Dont underestimate the reason Moscow joined in the war in Syria. It was not so much over a naval base, but to control the energy resources of that region. It has now won. Erdogan is now with Russia, but I still cant believe the level of US incompetence over the mishandling of that coup. Erdogan is a nasty piece of work but in one sweep he moved over to Moscow. One of the most nonsensical postings that I have come across on this site.It's pretty obvious if one's income is more than twice his debt his position will be much better than the one's the debt is double his income.Since your analogy implies to income and debt of the US one can obviously see that you haven't got a clue of what those percentages are.Let me enlighten you.The US treasury collects only 56 cents in revenue for every $ it spends and the balance is through borrowing.Currently with the public debt now topping $20 trillion, the implicit (and fraudulent)debt service relief from current ultra-low interest rates amounts to upwards of$500 billion per year.
Let's not forget unfunded liabilities of at least $130 trillion ($1,260,000 per taxpayer) and growing at $7 trillion a year ($70,000 per taxpayer per year).Professor Lawrence Kotlikoff has unfunded liabilities at $244 trillion today.Do you get the picture? I am sure you don't and if i were you i would stick to my colouring books and leave the above to people that understand.
