If mongols didn't come to overtake Slavs there would never have been a country called Hungary. Serbia and Slovakia would be sharing borders instead - or they could have been one same people at that time. Today we will never know...

1) Much more complicated than that. To the day there is no way to distinguish Hungarian population from Slovak, Croatian, Ukrainian and to large degree Russian.

2) Mongols actually - as Mongols - never came to the area in large numbers. Unless you call a small ruling elite (Subotai, Batu, etc) "large". Muroms, Kipchaks, Kuns, Bulghars and bunch of tribes from Caucasus came, they are hardly "Mongols".

3) The small ruling clan which hold on power at any price and where Árpád & Co. did belong had nothing to do with even 99% of the Hungarian invaders. Except that they forced their language on the majority of Turkish - Slavic - Germanic - Khazar / Jew mass who accepted it like a sheep, in exchange for certain privileges, of course.

4) There is nothing wrong with all the above, I am not complaining. If not Attila or Árpád - than it will be someone else. Bloodthirsty? Maybe. Remember, it was neither Attila, nor Árpád, not even Jaroslav or Batu who invented this one:

It was the human, democratic and merciful (like the NATO-bombing of Serbia) England.
