So far this year the Amsterdam police arrested 60 Albanians on suspicion of serious drug trafficking and money laundering from expensive apartments scattered throughout the Dutch capital. Cocaine, automatic firearms and several million euros in cash were confiscated, Het Parool reports.

According to the newspaper, two detective teams – a regular team and a financial economic team – and the Amsterdam municipality have been working closely together on a four month long investigation into the influx of criminal Albanians in the city.

The Albanians are known for their drug smuggling gangs all over Europe. In Britain a large drug smuggling/dealing gang lead by an Albanian has just been shut down.
I never hear of any Serb drug gangs in Britain, but several times a year, the Albanians hit the news there for large amounts of drug smuggling. British press accuses them of "flooding" or "attempting to flood" Britain with cocaine.

@ Ataman,
No, the extreme measures such as death penalty don't work. They just increase the price of the commodity attracting even more desperate criminals.

You misunderstood. I agree that death penalty is not good. What I did say that an extensive psychologic work-out (including the lesson how the death penalty does "happen" in other countries) does work OK.

Basically, scare them to death and make them fill the pants. Than let them work on a social project (instead of hanging) for a while. Than monitor the progress. In few years set them free.

An other method proven to work is to assign a priest to them and try to convert.

Death penalty has moral issues to begin with and economic issues (to expensive) as well. That's why it is essentially abolished in Europe. Even in Belarus or Russia there is a moratorium on it.

Even in a corrupt gangster run state like Kosovo*, they have to catch a few drug smugglers in order to keep the prices up and the public image clean. No doubt there was some internal politics or family allegiances at play here. Just a bit of discipline among friends.

Let me guess. The policemen that did the catching were new on the force and nobody had a chance to talk to them about the rules and the way things are done down there, or they were non-Albanians, which is hard to imagine in that neck of the icebergs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xzj8H0y-a9M

Good job to the Kosovo police. Good job to Serbian police too when it confiscates cocaine by the tons, not kgs. Those stops of Dacic at the DEA must have been fruitful.

In this specific case it seems to me like someone eliminated the competition rather than Kosovo police (under Kosovo seen control rather than enforce the law.
We all know that Serbia,Kosovo and Albania are transit countries for the drug trade. The routes are tightly controlled by various ethnicities gangs who often collaborate with each other, other times they fight. Rest assured if 45 kg were caught in Mitrovica, 450 kg passed elsewhere. Those who get caught didn't paid the fees to the proper authorities. The rest is for political consumption.

Imagine if those Albanians got caught with 45 kilos of illegally harvested human organs. Those that caught them will probably be found dead for adding on to Kosovo's* gross and macabre image.

Those 45 kilos will sooner than later be misplaced, lost, stolen, accidentally thrown out with the garbage or simply disappear into thin air. Which will it be this time, since we all know that cocaine can't walk or crawl??

come on truth. i know it is wrong to make a point about this, drugs are ubiquitous and everywhere. however, do you expect that this 45 kilo package worked its way backwards, from a highly populated city, where it can be sold to users, to an impoverished rural landscape where there are few to purchase. things go from source to destination, and kosovo is not the destination, but simply along the drug-superhighway

In Singapore the threshold for being hanged or not is only a few grams.

There is no death penalty in Europe but I would lesson them in very detail about physiologic consequences of Singaporean "measured drop" hanging, how it happens, what the condemned do feel, how soon they die and so on.

Than about differences between Iranian slow hanging on a crane and Singaporean hanging.

Than that in China the relatives of the condemned have to re-impburse the government for the bullets spent to kill the condemned.

Apparently, such blood-freezing verbal lessons do work.
