yeah, and there is that Hungry Gayry who does not know, do they love (or hate) Croatians more than Serbs.

We can't live with each other - but we cannot live without each other.
Grow up (all three!), get it over - and get to love each other.
Otherwise all three will lose.

BTW: the small people who cross-marry each other since hundreds of years know it better.

BTW: not a single scientific research could make a meaningful distinction between Serbs, Croats, Hungarians, Poles, Ukrainians, Russians, Slovaks.

BTW: there is not a single Albanian out there who would HATE Russians more, than my wife. In the mid of that Hungarian - Russian hatred we made three children.

Follow our example please, making children is fun!!!

"The yugoslav army was all present and accounted for when milosevic used it to invade Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, and Kosovo."

Sorry genius, first of all, it was the JNA under General Kadijevic that stepped into Slovenia and Croatia where Ante Markovic was the President of Croatia at the time, a Croatian. Nothing to do with Milosevic.

Yugoslavia had in reserve over 1 million troops at the time when Milosevic took power of what was left in Yugoslavia. Thanks to Holbrook, he did not send troops to Krajina or Bosnia. Operation Storm beat a rag tag rebel force where most of the Generals pulled back it's forces, that was not much of a victory. The Dayton accord resulted, essentially a deal made between Holbrook and Milosevic to end the war.

icj1, the CB of B92, is incomprehensible in many ways. As a practioner of Mengele-based medical diagnosis, icj1 labels an ethnic group with a neurological disorder. Conventional medical science is ignored by icj1. Instead, icj1 conjures evidence for diagnoses in his/her own warped mind. iicj1's deficiencies extend beyond the field of medicine, and are evident in history; icj1 is an apologist for Pavelic and the Ustase regime. icj1's warped thoughts and incomprehensible drivel may be understood by the likes of Mengele and Pavelic, but has no frame of reference in logical human thought.

A lot of ignorance below.

The sooner Serbia drops all the former republics and concentrates on growing its economy, the better for Serbia.

Two of them (Bosnia and Macedonia) cannot ever function as a normal country because they are poor now and they will always remain poor. Montenegro is also poor, but is sitting on a cash pile that will one day run out (because they have already sold off your entire economy and there is nothing left to sell. And when it does the ruling party will be swept out (Because nothing lasts forever).

Croatia can only grow so much with a tiny population of 4M and reliant upon tourism (especially when it has to start sharing that tourism with Albania).

Drop them all like a bad cold and grow your economy.

And also boycott Croatian Goods and Croatian stores in Serbia.

In the 11th century during Hungarian rule, many Serbs and Croats were displaced. In the 14th century there was a shift again to a Serb majority as Serbs fleeing Ottoman terror settled in Vojvodina. I'm pretty sure all this pre=dates Milosevic, don't you think? Again, I say you need to stop reading those Ustasha history books.

Vojvodina was an autonomous region of Yugoslavia, Just like Kosovo. Serbia didn't own it. Milosevic forced non Serbs out of Vojvidina just like he did in Kosovo or murderd them and that's why the population in Vojvidina is mostly Serb now. Vojvodina should be independent like Kosovo. In Bosnia serbs did not own half the country, it was an integrated society. Serbia carved out the half by force.

You belong to the white race, and we will always be grateful for your efforts during the Euro-Turkish wars. But, you and your neighbours, the Croats and the Bosniaks, are also parts of the white race, and they have the same rights as you.

Europa belongs to us, and we shall not fight against each other. All Europeans, Russians, Swedes, Brits, Hungarians, Serbs, Croats, shall cooperate. The globalists want to destroy our continent, and if we don't stick together, we will perish.

P.S.

Lika is not empty, at least not the western part. The area from Otocac to Baske Ostarije is flourishing, roads and city buildings are being repaired, and new houses are being built. In Krasno, Otocac, Ribnik, Baske Ostarije, Brusane, Perusic and parts of Gospic, the standard is quite high, and it's definitely not empty. And those areas were not stolen from Serbs.

Yes you are right. After the dust settled down Serbia took away not just more but the best parts of Yugoslavia. The others, such as Croats, were left with a few bones to gnaw while their western backers were telling them that they were enjoying New York cut steak.
We owned more than half of Bosnia while Vovodina is about 85% Serb so I find it hard to understand how we stole these parts. In Croatia today, Slavonia, Lika and large tracks of Dalmatia are empty since the Serbs were driven out and yet you claim someone stole half of Bosnia and all of Vojvodina. Who did we steal Vojvodina from? Croats have eyes bigger than their stomachs.
Yet the best is still to come as we have not finished with Croatia.

The Austrians, like many other Westerners, are obviously tired of the Balkan countries fighting with each other. They thought that Croatia and Serbia could reconcile, but obviously, it's impossible. There's no hope for the Balkan region, young people are leaving permanently, and only stupid nationalists will remain, in both countries.

I live in the West, and I'm glad for that, because here, I don't have to listen to Balkan squabbling.

Don't get me wrong, I hope the situation will change, but I'm afraid that this is impossible.

O wait I think I understand what you are suggesting. Are you saying the referendum for each republic to declare independence should have been organized, monitored, and ballots counted by federal yugoslavia in belgrade instead of each republic having their own referendum? Hahaha!! Then I agree with you, the "NO" to independence votes would win by a landslide because milosevic and his chetnik goons would have made sure of that. I really hope that's not what you were suggesting.

King Tomislav

pre 7 godina

O.Hardy,
And as for the exodus comment, there were waves of exodus of yugoslavs even before the breakup. yugoslavia was broke, borrowed too much and socialism and corruption was bleeding it dry. All the other republics wanted democracy and capitalism just like the rest of eastern europe, but serbia refused to let go of power. milosevic did not want to hear about democracy, capitalism, or a confederation. He and serbia wanted to keep ruling. It was milosevic and serbia that forced all the other republics to declare independence. Why shouldn't yugoslavia have the right to democracy and a better life like the rest of europe, like the former soviet republics? Are you a communist? As for the current exodus and economic situation in all the former republics, with any new government corruption comes first. Also, have some sympathy, Croatia and Bosnia had to spend 100 times more due to the illegal arms embargo people like you imposed on them so they had no chance at independence. serbia was eventually hit with a trade embargo because milosevic refused to stop the killing. These are all major disadvantages in rebuilding so I believe you are being unfair in your judgement. Aside from the corruption, I think all the former republics have done well under the circumstances and the whole region is prime for growth and you will see people returning and new immigrants.

King Tomislav

pre 7 godina

O.Hardy, what are you talking about? The people were given the right to vote. This was pure democracy. In Croatia the referendum offered two options. In the first, Croatia would become a sovereign and independent state, guaranteeing cultural autonomy and civil rights to Serbs and other minorities in Croatia, free to form an association of sovereign states with other former Yugoslav republics. In the second, Croatia would remain in Yugoslavia as a unified federal state. Serb local authorities called for a boycott of the vote, which was largely followed by Croatian Serbs. The referendum was held at 7,691 polling stations, where voters were given two ballots—blue and red, with a single referendum option each, allowing use of either or both of ballots. The referendum question proposing independence of Croatia, presented on the blue ballot, passed with 93.24% in favor, 4.15% against, and 1.18% of invalid or blank votes. The second referendum question, proposing that Croatia should remain in Yugoslavia, was declined with 5.38% votes in favor, 92.18% against and 2.07% of invalid votes. The turnout was 83.56%.

King Tom pray tell how is it possible to invade your own country? Time you changed the record and those others like yourself who seem to be under the delusion that the majority of Yugoslavs wanted the country broken up. Why wasn't the whole population asked in a referendum "Do you want YU broken up into it's constituent administrative republics"? I think you know the reason as well as the rest of us. The answer would have been a resounding majority for a "NO" and that's why it never happened. We are now left with everyone who has any brains/education, if they can, trying to leave their respective "Countries" at a rate just below that of the exodus from Syria. Fools like you seem to think this is a result well enjoy the fine mess people like you got us into !!

Harsh but true. The citizens of both countries are held back by their politicians.

Whatever people in the "west" think about Vladimir Putin, did he ever call Angela Merkel a Nazi, you know 20 million died in the Soviet Union. It would not be honorable, I doubt he even thinks it at least in his official capacity. When a Japanese prime minister consults with an American president does he/she ever complain even once about atomic bombs dropped on Japan in WW2 and insult ordinary Americans that have absolutely nothing to do with the past war.

What is it about the elites of certain balkan countries that insult and low discourse is just ordinary day to day talk? Its like they have some advance technology that allows (only) them to live in the time of the 1940s? If so, with such advanced technology do they have any solutions to the huge problems of today?

King Tomislav

pre 7 godina

Jugoslavia wrote "just be lucky Yugoslavia did not step in because Croatia would have been wiped out of the map."
Please enough with this lie. The yugoslav army was all present and accounted for when milosevic used it to invade Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, and Kosovo. Are you saying serbians from serbia did not set foot in any of the former republics that milosevic invaded? Where did the weapons come from? Why did serbia have a draft? Why did serb soldiers come back to serbia wounded or in body bags? You make it sound like serbia was on the sidelines just waiting for an opportunity to join the fight when in reality it was serbian troops and criminals milosevic freed from serbian prisons who went in to the former yugoslav republics and did the murdering, raping, stealing. I'm sure you know many serbians from serbia who were in the former republics and Kosovo fighting and committing crimes. What are you complaining about anyway, serbia won. serbia stole half of Bosnia and all of Vojvodina and kept the serbia borders as created by tito which gives serbia more territory to the west of belgrade and novi sad. If the winner of the game is who stole more territory, then serbia wins because none of the other former republics gained anything, although Slovenia and Montenegro are trying to take territory that never belonged to them from Croatia. Difference is they are trying to do it legally, not by genocide like serbia did.

Serbia never sees Croatia as "a sibling".
The real problem between Serbia and Croatia is not WWII or Yugoslavia wars.
Not even religion.
If it was the WWII or religion why Serbia has no better relations with Bulgaria whom she shares the same religion and haven`t fought each other since WWI?

Velika Srbija. That`s the reason. For Serbia Yugoslavia was/is Serbian Fief and all the other nations should be serfs of Serbs.

Croatia and Bosnia Herzegovina seized the JNA barracks killing many innocent JNA soldiers who wanted no part of the fight. Mass desertions took place. The JNA early in the war was acting as a mediator until it was attacked purposely by both Slovenian, Croatian and later B&H forces. Only when the JNA was organized along ethnic lines the true fight began.

LOL : to successfully rise up against the Ottomans.

You may be proud that Serbs composed the elite of the Ottomans/Atamans/Osmans ! I guess the Njemanici were a branch of the Kniazia/Khans Tverskie whom in Europe they called the Sultans. Serb Sokologlu/Sokolovic was Pasha during 4 Sultans! Sokol was the coat of arms of the Rurikovici that ruled the whole world and you can see their attacking falcon on the Ukrainian flag today. I don’t know what must happen so that Serbs wake up and refuse from their anti-Serb slavery mentality ! In the late Austrian Empire you never enjoyed even part of those privileges that the Ottomans granted you. Why do you think Serbs saved the Empire in 1402 after Bayased was destroyed in Angora/Ankara Battle? Why didn’t they use the moment to abandon this “prison”? Because it was their Empire while the Sultans were Russians! Why do you think in the court of Constantinople all documents and processes were led in Slovenski language that in fact was Serbski? So was the court of the Sultans! Why don’t you see that Russian Sjabri and Serbi is the same word? Where are the routes of that slavery mentality? How come that the main city of the Balkan (White Khan) was Belgrade (White Khan’s city) and why word Europe first (in 18 century !) appeared on the maps where Serbs lived ? Absolutely correct. While the SDP finds them despicable, the HDZ sees them as gullible voters. And when HDZ has nothing else to offer while they steal everything they can, these "war veterans" provide a nice cover as a way of showing they care about their national heroes while the defending the country's allegedly beleaguered national interests from the the Unholy Trinity of Communists/Socialists, Serbs, and Homosexuals.

Pensions going to be cut? Distract attention with a sign in Cyrillic.

Industry to be privatised? Block Serbia's EU membership.

It appears a small number, mostly veterans, seem to hold the government hostage. They are llikely worried that returnees will claim the houses and land that they have stolen, and therefore feel it necessary to perpetuate the hatred, to prevent them returning in the first place.

First the "veterans" as such did not steal anything. Sure, there was individual theft that's what some people do either because they are criminals or they feel entitled because their own house was burned a kind of revenge. Obviously its wrong, but a lot of this is anger and frustration with the overall state of the country, government and their position. Pensions, broken promises the list goes on. On a practical matter, how do you tell someone to get out of "their" house when somebody else kicked them out earlier and is living in their old house from 20 yrs ago? You dont elected to office and rule a country for 20 years, like HDZ, because of a handful of people. You can believe it's only a few, but it does not make it so. I have been to Croatia and most fall into the Ustaha category just that some are more while others a little less, and many hide it better than others.

No, actually you can get elected because of a few veterans. The country is polarized politically, roughly half socialist and the other HDZ. In order to form a majority in parliment both parties must cater to certain "nationalist" elements and the far right knows it. During the election you swing right, especially HDZ, afterwards you throw them a few bones. If the country was not so polarized special interest groups would be totally ignored. Actually, the fact that the coalition government fell shows how weak the far right really are. The best way I can describe the overall sentiment is that it is not a question of hatred against Serbs just for it own sake but a lack of trust. When Dacic uses "Ustasha" in every public comment and pretends that it is literally 1941, he is manipulating Serb voters and increasing distrust in Croatia which is what he wants. He wants to be prime minister.

The problem is largely the inability of Croatia to have any popular government. Like Serbia, Croatia has the ignoble status of perpetually being one month away for systemic bankruptcy and its two main parties - SDP and HDZ - have no idea how to address it.

While the SDP is inept, the HDZ is corrupt. Grotesquely corrupt. They may seem to be carrying the national mantle, but it's a ruse to distract people while they steal everything not bolted down. Of the two, I'd take SDP any day. The HDZ should have died years ago.

But with the election of Kitarovic last year as a sort of resuscitation nationalism against the SDP, the HDZ enjoys electoral anger in unseating the inept and incapable government of Zoran Milanovic, only to come up with the most dysfunctional government since Tudjman, held together by a loose coalition of parties, and led by Timmy Oreskovic whose Serbo-Croatian is worse than Serbia's Crown Prince. What the HDZ does to mask its inability at governing is push the envelope of nationalism to irrational levels, which explains the gravitation towards far right wing rhetoric that is a guarantee among Bosnian Croats and the diaspora whose votes are guaranteed seats in parliament.

The best part is that the current HDZ-led disaster collapsed weeks ago but Kolinda wants to postpone elections until September. Thelame-duck parliament knows they're going to lose big to the SDP, which is why move further to the right as their only way of getting votes.

Serbs and Croats are very similar indeed. Same language, in many cases, same names. That's why Yugoslavia was such a great idea. To unite these similar peoples so that they are no longer pawns of Austria, Turkey or Russia and instead are a force of their own to be respected.

But what happened? WWI, Serbs lose 65% of their male population to bring liberation to Croats and Bosniaks, many of whom fought for Austro-Hungary. Then when their sponsor loses, they say Yugoslavia is fine. This follows decades of mindless bickering, and WWII comes around. Same story, Croats and Bosniaks join Hitler and Yugoslavia is broken up while Serbs organize two resistance groups and suffer in concentration camps scattered throughout the Croatian NDH.

But once their Nazi sponsor loses, Yugoslavia becomes desirable again. Until its not, decades later, same story. Yes there were many Croats loyal to the idea of Yugoslavia such as the Orunjasi and the Partizani, but every few decades Croatia uses an opportunity to bring down everything that Serbs sacrificed for.

So very similar, but Serbs definitely don't hate Croats. They gave so much to live in the same state as Croats. It's the Croats that generally hate Serbs. Again not all, but many. And enough for their fascists to keep getting put in a position of power.

It appears a small number, mostly veterans, seem to hold the government hostage. They are llikely worried that returnees will claim the houses and land that they have stolen, and therefore feel it necessary to perpetuate the hatred, to prevent them returning in the first place.

Sure, there was individual theft that's what some people do either because they are criminals or they feel entitled because their own house was burned a kind of revenge. Obviously its wrong, but a lot of this is anger and frustration with the overall state of the country, government and their position. Pensions, broken promises the list goes on.

O.Hardy
O wait I think I understand what you are suggesting. Are you saying the referendum for each republic to declare independence should have been organized, monitored, and ballots counted by federal yugoslavia in belgrade instead of each republic having their own referendum? Hahaha!! Then I agree with you, the "NO" to independence votes would win by a landslide because milosevic and his chetnik goons would have made sure of that. I really hope that's not what you were suggesting.

King Tomislav

Vojvodina was an autonomous region of Yugoslavia, Just like Kosovo. Serbia didn't own it. Milosevic forced non Serbs out of Vojvidina just like he did in Kosovo or murderd them and that's why the population in Vojvidina is mostly Serb now. Vojvodina should be independent like Kosovo. In Bosnia serbs did not own half the country, it was an integrated society. Serbia carved out the half by force.

The sooner Serbia drops all the former republics and concentrates on growing its economy, the better for Serbia.

Two of them (Bosnia and Macedonia) cannot ever function as a normal country because they are poor now and they will always remain poor.

King Tomislav

O.Hardy,
And as for the exodus comment, there were waves of exodus of yugoslavs even before the breakup. yugoslavia was broke, borrowed too much and socialism and corruption was bleeding it dry. Aside from the corruption, I think all the former republics have done well under the circumstances and the whole region is prime for growth and you will see people returning and new immigrants.

icj1, the CB of B92, is incomprehensible in many ways.

I hate to disappoint you but a party does not get elected into power because of a few veterans. There is a very large proportion that are Ustasha, like it or not.

I wouldn't piss on an Ustasha if he was on fire, but I am in split now and Croatians don't all seem like rabid Serb haters. Quite the contrary actually.

This obviously does not just apply to Croatia.

The Austrians, like many other Westerners, are obviously tired of the Balkan countries fighting with each other. They thought that Croatia and Serbia could reconcile, but obviously, it's impossible. There's no hope for the Balkan region, young people are leaving permanently, and only stupid nationalists will remain, in both countries.

I live in the West, and I'm glad for that, because here, I don't have to listen to Balkan squabbling.

Don't get me wrong, I hope the situation will change, but I'm afraid that this is impossible.

No njegos, I'm saying it wasn't as high as 85% before milosevic. Are you agreeing though that non serbs were expelled from Vojvodina?

Siamese twins? Maybe.
Joint Siamese twins are sometimes separated by complicated medical operations. For better, or for worse, we were separated in the 90's, so surgeons from the West need not worry about it.
And we are not getting back together. I've never heard of operation that would put Siamese twins back together.

And also boycott Croatian Goods and Croatian stores in Serbia.

You might want to explain how the above would help Serbia become an economic superpower. I know that logical thinking and facts are a bit challenging for you but, who knows, you might finally be on to something this time lol

yeah, and there is that Hungry Gayry who does not know, do they love (or hate) Croatians more than Serbs.
