up, sure, Russians and Ukrainians are explaining themselves to one another, indeed!

(icj1, 15 August 2016 15:59)

according to the last polls 84% of the Ukrainians would prefer Putin to be their president while 1,5 million of them has already visited Crimea this summer ...

Jeremic has been an unwitting accomplice for Kosova in the past. Remember he helped clarify the case at the ICJ in favor of Kosova. I'm all for this former Muslim to be Sec. Gen. of the UN. After all, the position doesn't carry any real power, just like his previous job as president of the General Assembly. He is more apt to do us more good than harm. Go Vuk!

But you are more then welcome to start learning Serbian yourself if you think that will be useful to you in, say, year 2389 lol

Well Slavs can always explain themselves to one another. Besides in early 19 century all Slavic languages were much closer. This is why all of them were reformed during 40-50 years. Sellouts like Vuk Karadjic invented almost different languages and Russian was not an exclusion. Yet I wasn’t sceptic when I wrote that Serbian may once serve you a great service. Should Tramp win immediately buy Serbian textbooks and change you nickname for Chetnik or Yanissary or Prince Lazar or Aleko Dundic ect.

Hey, this is not the place to bring your frustrations about lack of UN membership almost 10 years after the UDI :) Part of which I'm sure Jeremic had something to do with! Being in 2nd place out of 11 candidates and 1st place among Eastern European candidates by default doesn't make his contention hopeless. I'm still not sure he'll win or anything, but he's doing pretty good thus far. All you can do is hate on the sidelines and hope to God he doesn't win!
(Ari Gold, 12 August 2016 11:01)

I guarantee Vuk will never become UNSG, trust me.

Vuk is in 2nd place out of 11 candidates. Leading every Eastern European candidate by a mile. I still am not convinced he will win though, but he obviously has a great reputation behind him to be one of the leading contenders for the job.
(Ari Gold, 11 August 2016 20:56)

Sure... Kosovo also had a great reputation among almost 2/3 of UNESCO members. That was not enough to win UNESCO membership. So not sure what your point is... what matters is the result, not being a hopeless contender :)

And he definitively succeeded at that by getting a clear answer that Kosovo's declaration of independence was in accordance with international law :)

Btw, what's going to happen from November to end of December when the new UNSG has to be elected?! The US administration will still be the same one!!!

Did whoever wrote the story use his/her brain?!
(icj1, 11 August 2016 15:16)

The underlying hope/expectation is that Trump will win the elections and then all bets would be off. Similarly to what the article is suggesting happened with Britain, where Vucic once again is getting all the credit with Boris Johnson. Irrational leaders who strive on fearmongering are friends of Serbia :).

He should run for US President as well !! The Americans could do with at least one candidate that isn't suffering from a narcissistic personality disorder and the associated megalomania. Vuk Jeremic seems like a nice guy and world politics sadly lacks this type of individual. Hopefully he'd be less of a stooge than the last few UNSGs whose impartiality has often been questionable.

Why are you so worried about it? Neither you are a UN member to take care. Maybe you fear a Serb to top such an organization? Please calm down because after Kurt Waldheim UN became a US Dept. of State unit where no strangers are let in. Yet nomination means much even the nominee represents Otpor.
