Serbia-Russia military exercise near border worries Croatia

Well about freaking time!!! When will the S-300 and the MiG's be arriving? My parents are from Nis, we have a lovely hospitality, especially for Russians!! I can see Kosovo back under Serbian control very soon. Like Uncle Vlad always said, it was a question of time.

What does Russia have to gain from waging war on Croatia? The obvious one is a seaport on the Adriatic, but that in itself would provide a logistical nightmare.

Second question, why doesnt Russia 'intervene' in Latvia or Estonia where a sizable Russian population lives? Could it be that the Russians living there arent prepared to trade their EU passports for Russian ones?

Perhaps NATO wont come to Croatia's aid, but then again maybe they will. Ita a lot closer to Western Europe and of more strategic importance than Ukraine or the Baltic states. Dont forget, Croatia is not Crimea or Donetsk - you dont have a significant Russophile (or Serbophile) population there. Good luck pacifying the country.

Furthermore, given the proximity of Croatia to Central/Western Europe, I doubt the EU/NATO would simply let the Russians waltz in. Again, it is not like the Baltic states or Ukraine which is far enough away from Western Europe for the EU/NATO to not care. Do you think Putin is going to risk this?

And finally, having said all that, do you really think the Russians will wage war for you?

An american general said himself that Croatia would and could not defeat Serbia on the battlefield without their help. Don't think much has changed. Croatia stopped Oluja at Eastern Slavonia where a great number of serbs still live. Why? Even with Nato help they didn't want a confrontation with the Serbian army who was well positioner along the serb croat border. Then again only another war would prove if I'm right or wrong.

A time will come when Serbia has to decide between the EU or Russia.
The Europeans are not stupid, they will not let a Russian pawn into the EU and risk Russia using Serbia to bring it down from the inside.
The Europeans will do all they can to make Serbia change it alliance from Russia to the EU.
If they are unable to get Serbia to come to their side they will gladly let Croatia block Serbia's entry and say it was not us, it was Croatia.
I am sure the Croatians will have no ptoblem placing a veto on Serbia's entry if they were asked, as a matter of fact I am sure they would enjoy it.
So in the up coming negotiations Serbia shoud be prepared to to be shown the carrot and the stick.

The war had been fought on multiple fronts. Any hypothetical attack from Serbia could only come from across the Danube. Is Serbia in any position to take on Croatia if the Croats mass the bulk of their forces along the Danube? It works both ways. Well good luck with being Russia's lapdog, whatever does it for you. Some questions for you to consider:

What does Russia have to gain from waging war on Croatia? The obvious one is a seaport on the Adriatic, but that in itself would provide a logistical nightmare.

Second question, why doesnt Russia 'intervene' in Latvia or Estonia where a sizable Russian population lives? Could it be that the Russians living there arent prepared to trade their EU passports for Russian ones?

Perhaps NATO wont come to Croatia's aid, but then again maybe they will. Ita a lot closer to Western Europe and of more strategic importance than Ukraine or the Baltic states. Dont forget, Croatia is not Crimea or Donetsk - you dont have a significant Russophile (or Serbophile) population there. Good luck pacifying the country.

Furthermore, given the proximity of Croatia to Central/Western Europe, I doubt the EU/NATO would simply let the Russians waltz in. Again, it is not like the Baltic states or Ukraine which is far enough away from Western Europe for the EU/NATO to not care. Do you think Putin is going to risk this?

And finally, having said all that, do you really think the Russians will wage war for you?

Croatia has already set up the 88 guns and deloyed the King Tiger Divisions.

I don't see any reason for all those comments.
It's exercise that is held annually for several years now.
Serbia is neutral, and committed to applying and learning best practices from anyone they can.

Russia is not waging war for Serbia, it’s a war against NATO. Just like when NATO/US helped the Croats in the 1990s, they were not waging war for Croats, but self interests.
It’s a well known fact that Russia can in a matter of 60 hours maximum take over all the Baltic states and NATO cannot stop them, but there is no need to do that since Russia can stop the gas flowing then no economy.
An EU passport is not worth that much. This is not the 1980s. Some well qualified people from the Baltics work as cleaners, picking fruit or other agricultural work in Europe because they have no work at home. The days of plenty are over.
If you think Ukraine is of no concern to NATO then you are dreaming.
After Turkey shot down the Russian aircraft it then ran to NATO for help, NATO members (Germany) said you start anything with Russia you’re on your own. I think Turkey is a tad more important to NATO than Croatia.

A time will come when Serbia has to decide between the EU or Russia.
The Europeans are not stupid, they will not let a Russian pawn into the EU and risk Russia using Serbia to bring it down from the inside.
The Europeans will do all they can to make Serbia change it alliance from Russia to the EU.
If they are unable to get Serbia to come to their side they will gladly let Croatia block Serbia's entry and say it was not us, it was Croatia.
I am sure the Croatians will have no ptoblem placing a veto on Serbia's entry if they were asked, as a matter of fact I am sure they would enjoy it.
So in the up coming negotiations Serbia shoud be prepared to to be shown the carrot and the stick.
You will probably be asked to give up more since they will always have Croatia waiting with a veto.

Turkey did run to NATO headquarters, but to be fair it was the US of Piss and Windbags that put the Turkish military up to the shooting down of the Russian jet. The idea was to provoke Russia so that Ankara closes the Bosporus.

The war had been fought on multiple fronts. Any hypothetical attack from Serbia could only come from across the Danube. Most countries have visa free arrangements and an EU passport is the same as any other. Its does not bring magical powers nor does it enrich you. I hold an Australian passport and I went into the EU with no problems.
I have no idea nor do I care what Russian's arrangements with other countries. I suggest you go to Europe and see how things work there, especially in the Baltics.

Croatians and serbs and albanians and slovenians and bosniaks are not enemies.....the normal majority amongst us want normal lives. Peace and a few dinars in our pockets. We love our families we till our fields .....we want peace but because of the pride amongst some of us we sit on the edge of destruction......we must change or within years....perhaps months it will be too late. No NATO would not like that to happen, but what is NATO going to do about it? Nothing because they do not have the capacity nor is there will in EU countries to stand against Russia. The Russians are dividing NATO countries. The US would love to stand up to the Russians but so far they keep coming off second best every time.
I’m not a supporter of Trump/Clinton, but Trump has made some statements if NATO members do not pay their way the US would not come to their aid if the Russians attacked. The salient point being the US is short of a bob or two and wants others to pay up. Meaning the US cannot do it alone as it did 30 years ago.
The US has also managed screwed its standing with Turkey by trying to remove Erdogan. Erdogan is now going to Moscow to kiss Putin’s arse. Erdogasn has now ensured that Turkey’s army is no longer secular and Ataturk’s principles of secularism are gone.

The original topic of conversation related to Russians in the Baltic states being willing to trade their EU passports for Russian ones - your Australian passport has nothing to do with the conversation. Russia doesnt have that many visa free arrangements - compare a map of visa free travel allowed with Baltic state passports vs Russian ones. Of course you can still travel with a Russian passport, its rather a quesiton of convinience and ease
