Resurgent Islam is destabilizing Muslim countries everywhere and yet nobody asks, "Where is Islam in this destabilization of Turkey?" Obviously this is a Muslim on Muslim conflict, the only thing to uncover is where is resurgent Islam in this struggle? People describe the coupe as being from the secular sector, but this report, like others, does not reinforce this point of view. Albania and especially Kosovo contribute a lot of soldiers and influence to ISIS. The presence of Turks in Kosovo had nothing to do with this? I find that hard to believe.

It makes more sense to describe this as Erdogan's Reichstag Fire. Especially since he describes the presence of terrorists in Turkey as if he had nothing to do with that, as if he were under threat from terrorists. Besides the Kurds, he doesn't have anything to worry about from terrorists. Erdogan wants to put resurgent Islam in charge of policing terrorism in Turkey, if they are not already in charge.

"The fact that a number of military officers - participants in the coup attempt - previously served in Kosovo and Bosnia-Herzegovina reinforces the assumption that the terrorist organization FETO operated freely in these countries," said the Turkish agency, citing Turkish officials."

Don't quite understand the logic here. If these officers were sent to Kosova, they were sent by Turkey, is not like Kosova or Bosnia sent a list with Turkish officers that they wanted to serve there in NATO mission.

Erdogan is throwing his weight around, to see which of the Balkan countries will bow to his demands. From the looks of it, none is, and all are politely ignoring his strange requests.

Nobody owes you anything Erdogan, you want to be friendly, sure; but if you want to throw a childish temper tantrum - then go eff yourself.

The so-called "coup" was essential a theatrical play in which half of its actors (the soldiers) didnt know they are part of a play.

The little dictator was in full control of the situation - before and after. He probably sees himself as an emperor and also as someone sent by his god to spread his word and make sure all the homeboys are in line. Whoever is not in line..well...wrong choice

Dark times ahead for turkey, let's see for how long before the country is dismantled. The hordes of uneducated islamists will govern this.

This is pretty obviously a staged coup, most soldiers were led to believe it was a training drill. If this was a real military coup the military would've firstly arrested the incumbent leaders, shut down all communications and take over the whole media.Instead the military surrendered themselves to the police and to the crowds.Mullah Erdogan had to do something in order to raise his profile after the humiliating defeats he's suffered on the Kurdish and Syria issues.Furthermore, the coup gave him the opportunity to eliminate the last vestiges of secularism in the army, judiciary and education.
