sj and Ari, yes the partizans were first formed in Croatia by Croatians and yes, serbs made up roughly 25% of all partizans across entire former yugoslavia in 1941 until they were defeated in late 1941 and Tito was pushed back in to Bosnia. Then you will see the drop in serb partizans who instead sided with chetnik nazi collaborationists until late 1944/1945 when the chetniks were defeated by the partizans, and the nazis were on the verge of defeat, and Tito allowed the chetniks in to the partizans. You will see a steady growth in partizans from all former yugoslave republics from 1941 through 1945, except the serbs and that's because most where chetniks and sided with the nazis until late 1944. See link http://www.vojska.net/eng/world-war-2/yugoslavia/statistics/partisans/

sj, Then why is the Vatican canonizing Stepinac? It's because he saved thousands, not killed them. Yeah maybe to your point he should have instead kicked hitler right in the chin to show him how wrong he was. That would have helped save people? He used his position smartly and saved who he could and spoke up when he had to which almost cost him his life several times.

Ari,
You didn't answer my question. Where is the link or what books are you getting your information about all these great battles and wins the chetniks had over the nazis to liberate all these towns? Not sure by what you mean by liberated. Do you mean after the italians capitulated and the nazis gave the chetniks more policing powers?

After WW1 it was the Croats that begged the Serbs to join Yugoslavia, in fact a man by the name of Ante Pavelic was part of that delegation to Belgrade. When Croats found out that they were not going rule Yugoslavia then Pavelic wanted independence.
I also love that part about how Serbs managed to oppress Croats between 1918 and 1940 to the point it forced Croats to establish concentration camps during WW2.
I find it humorous about partisans were first established by Croats LOL. Those partisans were Serbs trying to get away from murderous Croatians. I suppose all those Serbs that ended up in a pit or murdered in jasenovac committed mass suicide.
If most Croats were against what Pavelic did then how did Pavelic continue to hold power? Its BS since most supported Pavelic. Sorry it does not wash.
Stepinac, along with his bishops. agreed with 1/3 of Serbs to be killed, 1/3 converted to Catholicism and 1/3 forced out. At that time the Catholic Church was a very powerful organisation in Croatia and as the head of the Church he could have openly distanced himself from Pavelic without any consequences, but he did not. Hundreds of Croat monks and priests were in the Ustahi movement and Stepinac was well aware what was going on – you don’t reach the position of cardinal because you are stupid.
Stepinac was following the Vatican’s ideology of bringing back to the fold the “Orthodox schismatics” by any means.

Croatians are the only nation in a human history that organized children death camps. They were exterminating the KIDS.
So now they consider Stepinac as a Saint, even though he was highly involved in the genocide as well as roman catholic church. That tells a lot about the pope, roman catholics, croatians and the world we live in.

Stepinac was a disgrace to Christendom and people couldn't care less about the piece of garbage,he's dead and an irrelevance. Canonise him all you like he'll still be a genocidal war criminal regardless of any corrupt sanitisation that the HDZ try to perform in concert with the already discredited and paedophilic Vatican. What is of interest are the other equally distasteful scumbags who are still around and purportraited the same crimes Stepinac and his cohorts did during the WW2 and more recently in the 90's wars of aggression against the Serbian population of Yugoslavia. It's hard to explain away where 12% of your population disappeared to isn't it? Not to mention those Serbs in Western Bosnia who were liquidated in 1992 by these cowards. It reminds us of Bad Day at Black Rock whenever someone goes through one of these Croat only towns that before 1990 were majority Serb. There's a palpable hostility towards the new kid in town especially if he/she's someone looking for the truth and the war criminals who hide behind their veneer of respectability. There time will come and their sleepless nights will continue because there are thousands of Spencer Tracys out there.

Yes, they welcomed the German Army, in 1941, when 70% of Europe was pro-Hitler. Four years later, much had changed. Even two Ustasha generals, Ante Vokic and Mladen Lorkovic wanted to withdraw the support for Nazi Germany, but they were executed by their own men.

Stepinac and Jasenovac are two different things, and even BBC writes that Stepinac "initially supported NDH". Read the BBC article I linked in another tread.

Once he learned of the crimes being committed by the nazis, Archbishop Stepinac put his life on the line to save people, especially serbs. He supported an independent Croatia, especially from serb oppression after WW1 under the kingdom of yugoslavia which the serbs controlled, but he was by no measure a fascist. He was threatened constantly by the nazis for helping Serbs, Jews, and Roma. He was imprisoned and tortured. In fact, most Croatians were of the same belief during WW2. Hence the Partizans which were first formed in Croatia by Croatians. It's time serbians get their Stepinac history from Croatians of Serbian descent who were actually there instead of far away belgrade which has a long reputation of inflaming things in the former yugoslavia for the purposes of enlarging greater serbia. Do not confuse his support for an independent Croatia as supporting fascism. Please see Dr. Esther Gitman interview regarding this subject on youtube Link [link]

What two Nazi collaborators did Serbia rehabilitated? Milan Nedic has not been rehabilitated and General Draza Mihailovich was not a collaborator. And Charles De Gaulle who led France's resistance begged and pleaded with Draza to come to Paris after the war and instead he chose to die honorably in his country.

The communists labeled anyone that was against them a collaborator but the facts speak differently. Draza organized the first anti-nazi guerrilla army in all of Europe. Disgusting. But at least you have to credit the current government in Croatia for doing exactly what you expect neo-Nazis to do when elected. For those who don't know, Stepinac was a close ally to Ante Pavelic who oversaw the butcher of over 700,000 Serbs, Jews, Roma and anti-fascist Croats at Jasenovac. But while Jasenovac was the largest concentration camp, it certainly wasn't the only. Stara Gradiska, Kozare, Jadovno and about 20 more scattered throughout the Croatian Nazi puppet state.

Stepinac was following the Vatican’s ideology of bringing back to the fold the “Orthodox schismatics” by any means.

sj and Ari, yes the partizans were first formed in Croatia by Croatians and yes, serbs made up roughly 25% of all partizans across entire former yugoslavia in 1941 until they were defeated in late 1941 and Tito was pushed back in to Bosnia. Esther Gitman interview regarding this subject on youtube Link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9EupkoGmig

Yes he did. This man wholeheartedly supported Pavelic and his polices and there was no mistake. He found out that there was more than enough evidence to prove he was. He had access to the Vatican Library.

(shameless, 22 July 2016 12:54)

What two Nazi collaborators did Serbia rehabilitated? Milan Nedic has not been rehabilitated and General Draza Mihailovich was not a collaborator. He received the Legion of Merit from U.S. President Harry Truman for his sacrifice to the resistance.

And Loznica was the first city which was liberated in ex-Yugoslavia, liberated by the Chetniks. Yes, and Jasenovac was really an all-inclusive resort disguised as a concentration camp. That way the Croatians were able to help and save Serbs, Jews, and Roma by making it look like a death camp, but inside the gates were swim up bars, and all you can eat/drink bracelets for the resort. Most Croatians felt this way, after all they founded the Partizan and anti-Nazi campaign.....that's how pathetic you Ustase Nazi's sound, you welcomed Hitler with open arms and concerts.

I am definitely not an Ustasha, I am only a social conservative Christ Democrat.

So now they consider Stepinac as a Saint, even though he was highly involved in the genocide as well as roman catholic church. That tells a lot about the pope, roman catholics, croatians and the world we live in.

After WW1 it was the Croats that begged the Serbs to join Yugoslavia, in fact a man by the name of Ante Pavelic was part of that delegation to Belgrade. When Croats found out that they were not going rule Yugoslavia then Pavelic wanted independence.
I also love that part about how Serbs managed to oppress Croats between 1918 and 1940 to the point it forced Croats to establish concentration camps during WW2.

sj, Then why is the Vatican canonizing Stepinac? It's because he saved thousands, not killed them. Yeah maybe to your point he should have instead kicked hitler right in the chin to show him how wrong he was. That would have helped save people? He used his position smartly and saved who he could and spoke up when he had to which almost cost him his life several times.
