You're all missing something here. Russia didn't illegally bomb Serbia on a false pretext and try and destroy the country through sanctions and encouraging terrorism.
(Jeff, 7 July 2016 18:38)

Well, according to Serbia itself, Russia dismembered Serbia in 1999. If dismembering Serbia does not mean destroying the country, I'm not sure what it means!

You are a paranoic Russophobe. I don't even think that you have money for it as it must on genetic level. What you wrote here is a total absurd in every episode. Also you interfere our home affairs when it comes to Ukraine or Chechia or even Serbia. In such cases Russians usually say НЕ ТВОЕ СОБАЧЬЕ ДЕЛО !

Your arrogance is astounding. You talk of Serbs as if they are your beggar-servants instead of brothers.

Russian elites are pro-themselves, they are not pro-Serbian or even pro-Russian. If Dear Leader Putin has to wreck Serbia to keep his current crew in power then he will.
Look at the recent countries who didn't like brother Russia having all the power over the other brother.
Brother slav and orthodox Ukranians have been invaded and land annexed, brother-Chechens have been slaughtered & subdued with a puppet leader installed, brother orthodox Georgians have had their country split.
As for brother Azerbaijanis and brother Armenians, Putin is arming both sides while brokering peace talks, the Russia tactic for centuries.
As SKA said it seems brotherhood does not mean as much to Russia as it does to its brothers. Russia will drag its "brothers" into the cesspit rather than allow full independence.

Every time the government makes a decision that is in line with Russian policy, Russia gives a patronizing statement about how Serbia is independent and Russia won't interfere,
but a decision that is made that is not in line with Russian policy will see a statement about Russia-haters and foreigners having too much influence.

Russia elites to Russian citizens and Serbian citizens is like the wife-beater telling his wife how no-one else will ever love her the same.

SKA : All of the 'brotherly love' between Serbia and Russia that I have seen has been in Serbia, from the Serbian side.

Partly I agree. I would say that Russian elites are more pro-Serbian that the Serbian pro-Russian. Meanwhile average Serbs cares more of Russia than average Russian for Serbia. Yet most Russians already know that Serbs are our people while 10-15 years ago they saw little difference between you and the Bulgarians and Croats. Only 4% of the Russians travel abroad so most of us judge according to the TV and it makes a better picture from what you describe. Yet I insist that Russia is not a foregn state in Serbia. The developments are such that you will see it rather soon. Maybe this year. Serbs have lost their last elections I guess. Otherwise you would not question our relations. Also to judge us so strictly you have to better see the severe on all fronts that we are under. I do not automatically support Putin but there are things that we don't know. So let's see the TV.

RUSSIA IS NOT A FOREIGN POWER IN SERBIA AND THE SOONER YOU GET IT THE SOONER YOU WILL GET IT.

Please don't go down this 'our brothers' road... Sorry to tell you but most of the Russians that I know (and I know a lot, from many different parts of Russia) don't consider Serbia anything. To them it's just another country that they don't have any particular interest in... maybe some of them have some interest in Croatia, where they have their holiday homes (no I'm not starting some Serbia vs Croatia thread). Do you really think that Putin cares about Serbia? and that there is some brotherly love between the countries? All of the 'brotherly love' between Serbia and Russia that I have seen has been in Serbia, from the Serbian side.

Anyway, thanks for your comment, logically it is completely inaccurate. Russia is another country, a separate state, and therefore by definition is a foreign power in Serbia. And 'the sooner I will get it, the sooner I will get it' is a tautology, of course 'when I get it' 'I will get it'... but that's not going to happen.

Russia not a foreign power in Serbia? Aha, so that's how Russia regards Serbia - part of its territory like Crimea I suppose.

And how is this not Russia (a foreign power) trying to destabilise the country? It's funny that we don't see the Serbian 'politicians' claiming that Russia is trying to interfere with internal affairs! Of course, they want them to say this...

What is most interesting about these statements is the framing of these protests as anti-government and the labels applied to the protesters.
Also the blackening of the protesters by trying to label them as foreign agents.
These are anti-corruption protests.

"Various foreign-financed NGOs regularly organize protest rallies in Belgrade"
Zarkhova must be talking about the Russia-funded Zavetnici empty-heads and their anti-government protests? They wave Russian flags and pictures of Putin and were on the front page of Sputnik.

I bet if Serbia joined the sanctions against Russia, Zarkhova would be praising the Savamala protestors and you would see photos in Sputnik too.

It is insulting from the Russian side to suggest that the average Serb is not smart enough to come to their own decision that enough is enough when it comes to government criminals. Vucic is a puppet to the west and it is easy to see. They will not allow him to be toppled and now Russia is fighting for influence. It is the same politics during the Yugoslavian era. Vucic like Tito, is playing friend for both sides.
