aren't gas prices for the Balkans higher because the gas had to transfer further to get to them, i.e. on top of the standard price are the transit fees, and large long term contacts get discounts? Paying on time also counts. The Balkans is far from major sources of gas - Norway, Uk, Russia, Az. Now if the stupid Borisov hadn't of blocked South Stream... The potential of the Leviathon field in the eastern med is yet to be realised...

Bloody Belgium lost! Great talent, but nowhere nearer the greater sum of the parts. Well done Wales!

I do speak Russian and I find it strrange that unlike all other states Brits were offered not pens but pencils to vote. Also it was ridiculous that they sent the voting letters without any identification of the senders. Now that future of both EU and NATO is questioned everyone could send as much letters as he liked. Another thing is that they declared the results on the international Mason's Day. These people loves symbols as you must know. Anyway it's a pity that you do not speak Russian. Maybe I'll even have to drink vodka because of you. But most likely it will be juce because of the heat.

The U.K. elites have a problem with Serbs. It starts within academia, particularly Oxford and Cambridge, where there is a cadre of Catholic zealots who hanker for days gone by.
It rises through the civil service via this route, and manifests itself in people like Philip Hammond.

why cant poor countries get cheaper gas to grow their economies and be competitive, but rich countries get the advantage?
(factman, 1 July 2016 14:11)

Well, I am with you Balkans pay a lot more for GAS, but this is due to high prices Russia sets, Bulgaria chose not to go with South Stream [There was pressure from NATO, but they got something out of it to block this deal].

Germany exports most to Russia and China in Europe - so the market is open for all countries.

Balkans have a chance to be a big player by trading with each other, but as from this forum, people are more concerned with the past than economic future. we could all negotiate with Russia as a block to get better prices for our Gas but we do not (Bosnia pays the highest price) Serbia as a Russian friend does not do much better maybe old contracts maybe Russia takes advantage not sure where its all.

So they kind of knew what was going to happen. Dacic's talk of "shock" is just BS as a result.

Great post Gkaova.

that said, what about this: No one is saying to Serbia do not do business with Russia

Why can the Balkan countries not sign conomic contracts to allow south stream?

why are poor people being forced to give a high percentage of their revenue on gasoline, and rich people in the west pay less of their revenue?

why cant poor countries get cheaper gas to grow their economies and be competitive, but rich countries get the advantage?

sounds to me like there is a hole in your construct.

The EU does what it does in crisis that is partly of its own making. It sits on its hands and hopes a solution falls from the heavens. It just happens to coincide with Croatia's attempts to block the opening of Chapters for Serbia. Otherwise they would have already folded due to pressure from Berlin. After all, Zagreb had their little moment of 'I'm important too!' and were noted in Brussels.

The Brits just wilfully committed hari-kri through their own massive stupidity that was a loooooong time in coming, a cumulation of the political parties getting far, far ahead of the electorate. So, there is no direction at the moment from London.

The good news is that the Slovaks are taking over the Presidency and want more power to be returned to the captials of Europe. Even Rutte of the Netherlands has gone volte-face and now said he will respect the referendum against an Ukrainian SAA.

I hope the ff's here in Brussels fell uncomfortable for much, much longer. They've been enjoying the golden life in the Brussels bubble.

Anyway, Go Belgium! I hope they win Euro 2016!

Simple Chapter 23 & 24 are platforms and you can continue to make changes with same vigore as you could when they are open - however these changes need to be done out of pocket $$$ so this is what you do not like.

No nation in Balkans needs to open a chapter to make these changes required to joining EU.
Also if you have made the decision to join Eu you can not jump everytime you dont get your way, saying Russia and China are our way - this Tito philosophy is great in world like 1945 to 1989 however today you need to chose where you want to belong.

No one is saying to Serbia do not do business with Russia or China but you need to be politically aligned with EU, EU is not forcing Serbia to join, 2nd base of Russia in Serbia is not liked by some in EU but again your country you do as you think best.

Two seats one ass policy:

1. Kosovo and EU
2. EU and Russia/China

I am not sure its working but I respect your choices.
