"Brexit won't prompt new austerity measures in Serbia"

Britain leaving the EU "will not force Serbia to implement additional austerity measures,"Fiscal Council member Nikola Altiparmakov said on Wednesday.

It was a stretch that Britain ever considered themselves European. They are more or less 'island folk'. Now that they have voted to leave the EU, their input in regards to any dealings with Europe should simply be kept in their own little kingdom.

All this is about is Fiat asking for more government handouts to continue operations, but it would be better if Belgrade gives Fiat the boot and brings in an Asian car manufacturer.

Maybe Brexit won't indeed, but closing one shift in FIAT Serbia and the sacking 900 + 600 automotive workers there plus loosing valuable exports, might. Strangely nobody mentioned this very bad news on site since the news broke. Next year the complete FIAT operation in Serbia could be shut down. If they're lucky, some Fiat Serbia worker might find job in Mercedes Kecskemét, Audi Györ in Hungary where there is a shortage of workers already and the unemployment rate dropped to very low 5.5%.
