From where I stand, I see neither shock, nor champagne. I only detect a presence of force of fate, an inevitable bad karma unfolding. There is no joy, no triumph, no gloating; only a sense of relief that what had to happen, finally did.

I hope that the United Europeans can finally, at long last, learn something from this pitiful episode, because the European Union "as we know it", was neither truly European, nor really a Union in any sense. Alas, judging by the vast length of the United European learning curve thus far, I am reasonably convinced that the learning process will take centuries, if not millennia. If, that is, it ever takes place.
