More conditions possible on Serbia's thorny road to EU
Serbia must be very careful because of open issues with neighboring countries, EU members, which could be brought up at any stage of the negotiation process.
Michael Thomas. I think you will find that the populations of the larger EU countries believe that it is they who are being robbed by many of the countries that you listed. Firstly they receive many millions of Euros in hand-outs and secondly many of their nationals are working in the bigger more stable economies. This is not my view but I have heard it often in the last few weeks for obvious reasons. Personally I think Serbia should have some red lines and stick to them. I am not a Serbo-phile by any means but Serbia is a proud nation and shouldn't prostrate itself before Brussels in order to take a few steps nearer to EU membership. The veto of existing members enabling them to blackball potential new members needs to be reviewed with some sort of qualified majority takings its place.

Kosovo may be a pebble in Serbia's shoe, but the international community are trying to make the shoe as comfortable as possible.
