For example, it was in the interest of the US society to install corrupt politicians in Ukraine.

Wooow, you are making US very powerful... that's very unpatriotic and does not fit the narrative of the most patriotic of Serbs :)

AY makes my point for me. As always, blaming the West for Serbia's woes. Simply incapable of looking into Serbia's backyard. In a nutshell, the problem of Serbia today. Nobody can deal with the truth. Everything is just one big fairytale. Just the way Vucic likes it.

It's OK, you don't have to use your brain.

Serbia is sinking into darkness, every day that goes by under the current administration no light at the end of this black tunnel. Only the Serbian people can do some thing by voting and electing new leadership that is competent to steer Eastern Orthodox Christianity in the Balkans into the light! The only hope for all Eastern Orthodox Christianity in the Balkans is with Russia, Dear Mother Russia is our God!!!

"critics say Vucic wants to consolidate power while his popularity is still high."

Greater part of early elections wordlwide are arranged for the same reson and it was the first thing that occured me when I first heard of his election plan. Otherwise the gap between him and the Serbs will become to big to be further ignored. I guess he surrendered long before he became a PM. I am not so sure about Toma-hawk but it was suspicious that the overseas Boss surrendered so easily when Tadic was overthrown. Maybe they make no difference for the State Dept. Also I am afraid S.Dveri won't pass to the Parliament because of Seselj ... There will be many questions why Karadjic was punished and Seselj set free on the eve of the voting ...

Yet another attempt by the Western media on behalf of 'interested third parties' to interfere in the elections of a sovereign country. Just another leopard that cannot change its spots.

(Nenad, 21 April 2016 14:40) Any politician who was willing to support the policies that they did for so many years is a politician that no society wants.

It depends on which society. For example, it was in the interest of the US society to install corrupt politicians in Ukraine. Please refer Nulands infamous discussions with Pyatt about the warmongering "Yats". Unfortunately, societies in places such as Libya, Syria, Ukraine et al, are not consulted before war and bombs are forced on their heads.

(Un?)fortunately, Serbia hasn't the natural resources he can give to friends. allies, family members, former classmates and so on to make them billionaires. So, no, Vucic won't become a second Putin (or Erdogan).

This article is basically a synopsis of a typical politician. He or she goes where there is power to be found.

You think Milosevic had a big problem with Croats, Muslims or Albanians prior to 1987?

Remember the Vuk Draskovic of 1989-90? Now look at him.

Djukanovic was a nationalist Serb in the early 90s and now claims to be Montenegrin.

Either Nikolic and Vucic figured it out for themselves or someone approached them back in 2007 or 2008, but basically, the trick for them was to leverage their nationalist reputation in an effort to start guiding Serbia toward the EU. Too many Serbs were still suspicious of the West at that time, and it took someone they could trust to convince them to choose a more Western path. These guys couldn't pull that off as Seselj's SRS - they had to create a new party. Thus, the SNS was born.

Well, the trick clearly worked. The problem is that you're stuck with Nikolic and Vucic! Any politician who was willing to support the policies that they did for so many years is a politician that no society wants.
