All the former eastern bloc countries that joined the EU have not really progressed that far and no the EU did not “jumpstart” their economies. To “jumpstart” their economies a marshal-style plan had to be in place after the fall of the iron curtain, but that did not occur.
Poland is described as a high-income economy and considered to be one of the healthiest of the post-communist countries and one of the fastest growing economies in the EU.
Then why do they have 2 million of their citizens outside their country either looking for work or working? Germany, UK, France do not have those numbers. Its called BS.
I strongly suggest that you go to the Baltic countries and see for yourself rather than listen to the propaganda.
I spent time in all these places last year and when you talk to the young people they all complain that there is no work and they have to leave. They are no better off than Serbia or any other Balkan country.
It’s a fairytale for children about the delights of joining the EU.

The way it did so for every single one of its member states: by actually introducing and enforcing the rules.
(Vojvodina, 13 April 2016 11:48

Are you joking? When were you last in Europe? Bulgaria and Romania are among the most corrupt countries in the world let alone Europe. The so called enforcement of rules has not contributed to one iota to living standards. Its a fantasy sold to naive people.

No, their economy made a significant growth since they joined. The only ones who are denying that are Euroskeptics.
Now, of course it didn't magically create thousands of jobs, increase wages, destroy corruption etc, only an idiot would expect something like that, but it did jumpstart their economies.
The only problem is, jumpstarting the economy almost always leads to increased inequality, but the living standard of the lower class is not a good indicator of an economy's future and stability, but over time, the money in Bulgaria's possession will steadily increase.

This wouldn't be the first time either. Many countries have already been through this and benefited from it: Baltic countries, Poland, Slovakia etc.

Don't believe everything Malagurski says ;)

...which we know is not possible because it's filled with Africa-tier corrupt politicians. The only thing we can objectively do is leave it to EU to stabilize our economy and leave it to NATO to stabilize our security.
(Vojvodina, 13 April 2016 09:12)

Out of interest do tell how is the EU going to “stabilize” the Serbian economy?

Serbia is far from begging on its knees. Serbs should stop looking down! Croatia cannot stop Serbia's progress and they know it. The EU is made up of 27 other nations who each have a view. They aren't going to let one country ruin that progress. Do you Serbs not see that economically your future looks very bright! Air Serbia has now transformed Belgrade airport into a regional hub. Croatia knows that most business opportunities will go through Serbia. It also knows that they will have to cooperate with Serbia and other Balkan countries if its own economy is going to flourish. I have visited Serbia many times and I just wish Serbs themselves could only see the opportunities banging at their door.

Serbia reduced to kneeling on it's knee's begging Croatia for mercy! And for what, just a waste of time and energy when Serbia could be advancing and stablizing it's economy and most important it's security! A real time for political change in Serbia!!!
