Time for the Serbian Government to end cooperation with this poor excuse of a court.
(Ari Gold, 6 April 2016 18:52)

The cooperation of states with ICTY will end when the UN says so. Serbia's government decisions on the matter don't carry much weight!

On another note, The Weight of Chains 2 is being aired on RT for the next couple of days. This comes highly recommended so please watch and even see how Carla del Ponte admits that the NATO court makes political decisions.
(Zoran, 6 April 2016 16:07)

Is this the same Carla Del Ponte who said that "although some mistakes were made by NATO, there was no deliberate targeting of civilians or unlawful military targets by NATO during the campaign" against Serbia?
(icj1, 6 April 2016 22:01)

LOL! All prosecutors of the NATO court worked for NATO. She is no friend of Serbia but for her to admit that the NATO court makes political decisions is unheard of. Perhaps this has something to do with it?
(Zoran, 7 April 2016 01:08)

Well, according to the UN, it was Russia under Yeltsin or Putin that approved ICTY's prosecutors. So you are saying that Yeltsin and Putin are NATO's stooges!

In any case, my point was not that you were wrong quoting Carla Del Ponte. My point is that Carla Del Ponte either is a reliable source or she isn't. If you are saying that she is reliable, so it is her admission that "although some mistakes were made by NATO, there was no deliberate targeting of civilians or unlawful military targets by NATO during the campaign".

That's even worse! Waste of money and time to achieve the same thing as no trial at all!

If you really want to witness the captain kangaroo-ism at its very best you might want to look into those that have imprisoned in Guantanamo without even seeing a judge.
Qaddafi didn't even get a trial. Neither did Bin Laden. That would seem to be the new way to deal with international issues. The new modern-western way of law and order.

"If you want to see a true kangaroo court, look at the Russian court that just convicted the Ukrainian pilot Savchenko without any evidence and in a very short time to 22 years in prison. Serbs should know and understand what a kangaroo court is since your country's courts were political tools for the Milosevic regime not too long ago.
(LK, 6 April 2016 18:52)

Indeed, a good example. Amazing that Serb poster here still complain about the 'biased anti_Serb NATO cangaroo court' after Seselj was set free, while Serb politicians complain about the non-guilty verdict coming before the election because the court is 'political' and meant to damage the current government (you know, that government that called for early election without any need, only because they were expecting benefits for the ruling party)

It's very hard to please the Serbs in their twisted reality and state of mind. If the sun is shining, the weather is anti-serb, if it's snowing, it's anti-serb, if it's raining, it's politically motivated - while in reality the weather is just the weather :)

LOL this dude couldn't even get guilty with time served on Seselj who was under prosecution for 13 years. But whatever, you think he's sharp because of the way he looks.

A suit, clean shaven, and good manners does that to someone in the First World. George W Bush got the same feeling when he looked into Putin's eyes the first time too. These things have an effect on the weak minded :)

I was surprised when he was found not guilty.

May be it's second time lucky! ;-)

If there is evidence that was not properly taken into account, it would be right to reconsider the judgement.

However, for the future, international courts need to be quicker and more precise in their processes and judgements.

International courts are important - there are trials relating to other countries and other high level criminals (nothing to do with Serbia) and these trials need to work properly.

"Carla Del Ponte, the former war crimes prosecutor who put Balkan warlords and political leaders behind bars, is to be investigated over claims she allowed the use of bullying and bribing of witnesses, or tainted evidence.

Judges at the UN war crimes tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in The Hague today ordered an independent inquiry into the practices of Del Ponte and two prominent serving prosecutors, Hildegard Ürtz-Retzlaff and Daniel Saxon, after complaints from witnesses that they had been harassed, paid, mistreated and their evidence tampered with.

"Some of the witnesses had referred to pressure and intimidation to which they were subjected by investigators for the prosecution," said a statement from the judge in the Seselj case. "The prosecution allegedly obtained statements illegally, by threatening, intimidating and/or buying [witnesses] off."

That is the nature of the NATO court.

Really, all the rants against the ICTY and NATO just betray a deep sense of hurt and loss over Serbia's failures as a state in the 1990s. Doesn't take a shrink to see that.

Seselj made fools out of the Hague Tribunal a man who had to go on a hunger strike just to have the chance to represent his own defense embarrassed the court every step of the way. International law students will be learning about Seselj's case for years to come. If the Hague had any dignity left, they would work on reversing the shameful acquittals of those who very clearly butchered Serbian civilians but we know their mandate is not to pursue any actual justice. Time for the Serbian Government to end cooperation with this poor excuse of a court.

If it were a NATO kangaroo court, the trial would not have lasted for so long and the verdict would have been guilty. Things like appeals would be non-existent and Seselj would still be locked up. If you want to see a true kangaroo court, look at the Russian court that just convicted the Ukrainian pilot Savchenko without any evidence and in a very short time to 22 years in prison.
