Depending on what 'Western Country'. In some, it's a major sad news and extremely rare. I happen to live at least part-time in such a country. In Hungary that, too, would be a major news worth to report. The life is boring otherwise, in the town where I live the other part-time near BP there was not even theft reported for a while.

As for Los Angeles or Bridgeport, Connecticut the situation there is maybe different.
But heck, in Texas I just seen, I can buy ammo in a supermarket. If you try to ask for it in Auchan or Ашан they will think, you are a lunatic.

Sasa P you may have a point to wonder if this type of murder should be considered major news (though it's still serious) all because you say that this type of crime occurs in the West and if it's considered relevant but even though it appears to not be considered major news when police vehicles chase a suspect's vehicle(s) the thing is that since November 2015 my iptv provider launched a tv network called KTLA (broadcasts from Los Angeles/Hollywood,California,U.S.A.) and whenever the Los Angeles Police or Los Angeles County or some other nearby sheriff department or the California Highway Patrol are involved in a hot pursuit or high speed chase KTLA and I believe some other Los Angeles tv networks consider this breaking news and interrupt regularily scheduled programming to provide coverage of police or sheriff or highway patrol vehicles chasing a suspect's vehicle in the Los Angeles area. Then again if I heard correctly Los Angeles is said to be the pursuit "capital" of America or even the world.Y
